My doctor says he beleives that I have fibromyalgia. My mom has suffered from this for 20 years also so I guess it is hereditary. I am wondering what other people do for the pain and what they have tried out and what works best to help.

I had surgery on both arms for tennis elbow/tendinitis. My arms were not healing as fast as my doctors thought they should, so I asked my doctor for a prescription for deep tissue massage in my arms (to help the tendinitis). He gave me one and I called a licensed place that stated in the phone book that they do deep tissue massage therapy. I called them on the phone and made sure that they do this type of work and they said yes, no problem, just bring in my prescription to my first appt. So I did, and it ended up being a Chiropractors office which was clearly not set up for deep tissue massage on the arms. He has been working on my neck and back since end of August and at first at the end of each session he would pay some attention to my arms for about a minute. I questioned him about this because I was concerned about workers comp not paying the bill for a chiropractors office and he assured me that if they don't that my Blue Choice will pay for it. He also said that he would

My cat came up behind my neck and put his paw on me, all of a sudden I felt this intensepain in my back shooting down my spine and when I went to touch my neck I felt that same pain in my hand. Now I have a huge welt on my neck and on my hand with a red mark in the middle and such throbbing intense pain. I thought the cat scratched me, but I think I muct have had an insect on me and he went to get it and then whatever it was bit me. I have never ben bit by anything before and I am wondering if I should just try and out cream on it myself or go to the dr. My hand is in terrible pain and my neck is as well.
Isn't this weird. There is no sign of any bug anywhere in the house.

Neurontin, a nerve medicine, has been effective in stopping these pains, but my doctors, and even neurologist, haven't been able to tell me what causes this. The pains typically only last 5-20 seconds, but are extremely sharp, like jerk me out of my seat sharp. Sometimes I will have less painful "episodes" where the pain will linger on and off for hours. The pains typically occur in one area in a day, but have occured in several areas in a day, and even in more than one location on my body at a time. They happen in joints, muscles, ear lobes, toes, hand, virtually ANYwhere on my body.

I am getting blood drawn next week and I am super nervous. Yes, I have gotten blood drawn before, and it HURT!!! Thankfully, I learned that getting it on the hand is less painful than getting it done on the forearm or the wrist, which is probably the most painful. I don't need, or want, any, "Don't worry, it's not 'that' bad, " because it 'is' bad and I 'do' worry. I am not asking this question for compassion or empathy, but advice. What are some things I can do to numb the location beforehand, and what are some things I can take that would calm me down before the torture (bloodwork) begins. Also, I don't know, but when people like me go to get blood drawn is there anything the phlebotomoist can apply to the location or give (pills) to relax the patient's nerves?

The symptoms are from stress, which is hard to avoid being a teacher. Muscle relaxers from the doctor work but I would like to try something new that doesn't knock me out. Thanks!

I am 42 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 3 mo. ago and it sucks! Now they want me to seek counseling for the chronic pain. Sometimes it is just to much to handle. I believe I'm driving my fam. crazy.
My (lazy) cousin says to stay home and get on SSD but I need to work if anything it helps keep my mind occupied.
The Dr.'s give you pill after pill and then say exerise but it hurts like hell to even think about getting up. I try to walk as much as as I can until I feel like my legs will crumble.

HELP!

Has anyone ever had a doc ask for a filled prescription?
I was recently diagnosed w/ shingles. My doc gave me a strong painkiller to take, but it did little to numb the pain. After four days, I called his office to find out what the next step would be in order to get this pain under control. He wrote me a prescription, but wouldn't allow me to pick it up until I returned the pills I had left from the prescription he gave me four days ago. What in the world is going on here? This is the first time in a VERY long time that I've had to take pain medication, so it isn't like I'm a common addict. His nurse said they had to have it back to keep me from "over-medicating" myself. I paid for that prescription to be filled. I did have my husband take the bottle of pills to the doc's office, and I got the new prescription. I just need to know if what the doc did was ethical, and if so, do they not owe me money for the amount I paid for that prescription? Someone, please, help me understand this
