She is absolutely right - snorting and injecting drugs make them work better and faster because the pathway to the brain and where they need to go is direct and fast.

I have my children injecting their children's Nyquil.

My grandma mainlines her heart medication and I smoke my Midol.

Our cat has catnip on IV and we stick our dog's worm medicine where the sun don't shine cuz we just can't read the tiny directions on the package and who cares about directions anyway?

I don't even go out "for a few drinks" anymore. I just shoot up the liquor into my veins. Who wants to deal with that timely waiting for the alcohol to be absorbed BS. I want results and I want them NOW!

There is a medicine called Stadol. When you go to the ER for a migraine they will inject it into you. Then you start feeling better. For people who get bad migraines often, IF they have a trusting relationship with their doctor than the Dr will prescribe the Stadol Nasal Spray. Its highly addictive though. Not many Drs will prescribe it. and you only can get small amounts at a time and in a certain time frame. My dr only gives me enough for maybe 8 sprays and then in 3 months i have to get it refilled. If you have migraines it works within like 5 minutes sometimes. Less. Its great stuff.
However if she doesnt have it prescribed and shes just crushing pills and snorting it then it may be dangerous. Might cause a bloody/runny nose. Not sure why anyone would do that though. Anyways hopes this helps

Very dangerous. Snorting anything is dangerous. The soft tissue in your sinuses does make things absorb faster... but the same is true of the soft tissue in your anus. Tell your friend she would be better off sticking the migraine medicine up her butt. At least if she puts it in her butt, there is no risk of it getting lodged in her sinus cavity and killing her.

Actually, when you are desperate for medication to work, simply chewing it into powder and swallowing it with a warm glass of water or some hot tea is the fastest way to get results.

Tell your friend that it is VERY dangerous to snort ANYTHING. Ever. You should always take your medication exactly as the doctor prescribes. It is a PRESCRIPTION for a reason.

Yes, it is very dangerous. The pills are not ment to me snorted up the nose they are time reliesed for a reasson, so you don't get all the mediction in your system at once cuz you might overdose. If you cut the pill up to snort it your breaking that time reliese and it's getting in your system faster yes but like I said it's not healthy. Plus it's going stright to your brain. Why do you think some druggy's rather snort a drug or inject it into there system. Because it get's into there system faster and causes a high. I knew someone who did this and now she has cancer.

I use to take meds for migraines myself. There in one medication, that I can no longer remember the name of, that is a nasal spray. If the meds she's snorting are this particular one, then it's perfectly fine. Meds are indeed absorbed faster through the nasal passages than through the stomach.

Correction: The nasal spray I took is called Zomig.

Now what do you think? Of course it's dangerous.

She needs help. People with conditions like migraines or something else simple would NEVER think of snorting their medications unless they had a history of snorting things like cocaine or Oxycontin. And she's not doing it to make it work on her migraine faster, she's doing it to get high.

Yes, she needs help.

Does she have migraine headaches or is she just a druggy?
Imitrex is probably used 80% of the time for migraines. A migraine is a type of headache pain known as psychogenic pain. Psychogenic mean that it is not caused by any known organic reason. It's not pain because of injury. It's not pain because of any organic reason. It comes and it goes and it's incredibly painful. It brings with it nausa, flashing lights, and a complete shutting down of ones ability to cope with life.

Two parts to migraines, First, there is a reduction in the secretion of serotonin, and second, there is an increase in histamine secretion. This is triggered by guilt resulting from conflict in your life in conjunction with fear. It's not the conflict itself that you're having that triggers the migaine. It's the conflict that you have with yourself over the conflict that triggers the migraine, either real or imagined. You may have guilt because you spent too much money. That guilt produces the migraine. Migraines are rooted in guilt. Out of guilt comes fear, and it is always in that order. It's guilt first and then fear.

Serotonin is a vasoconstrictor.
Histamine is a vasodilator.

Imitrex is a compound drug that is designed to be an antihistamine and a serotonin enhancer. Serotonin and histamine are antagonistic to each other in that they are in opposition to each other in body functions. they repel each other. When serotonin levels are reduced because of the guilt, then histamine levels are allowed to increase because of the fear. Histamine & serotonin are incompatible with ea. other in the human body. What happens when the drug Imitrex is given is this: first histamine is reduced and then serotonin is enhanced. Vasodilation reduces, vasoconstriction is broken, the blood vessels return to normal, and the migraine is over. That's the mechanism behind migraines, and this is the mechanism of Imitrex drug therapy.

It does not solve the root problem. There is a more excellent way. Deal with the guilt. Perfect love casts out all fear because fear has torment. God is perfect love. To be content in this life we must have three things and they are:

1. Peace with God 2. Peace with ourselves 3. Peace with others.

It is simple - love God, love yourself and love others. God left us His Word, the Holy Bible and it is worth reading if you want to live in good health.

it probably does work faster, the medication is absorbed directly into her blood from the nasal mucous membranes. However, like those who snort cocaine, she is irreparably damaging her nasal tissues and will eventually pay for it, either by losing her sense of smell or by destroying the nasal lining. In any case, not taking the medication as directed by her doctor is not a good idea.

I've heard of people doing that, but I assure you it works no faster than taking gel-variety pain medications.

Sounds like she just like sticking things up her nose, better watch out for your pencil.
