Not eating and eating fast , especially when you are really hungry is usually the cause of heartburn. You should always have something for breakfast, chewed slowly and thoroughly cos gulping can cause it too. Regular small meals are the only way to go and if it persists go and see your GP, he will have lots of ideas up his sleeve to help you and he gets paid for doing it!

Hi, Im sure there are people that get it worse than you and I one of them and I have got bad legs and Im only 20 years old and can you imagine how I feel. Anyways.
You havent been taking any pain killers like Ibuprofen or anything, even taking them during the day, the reason why Im asking you this, is I went to see the doc for my legs and he gave me some ibuprofen, I took them for 3 days and was in agony, it started off like indegestion then got worse. I do suffer alot when I have anything with sweetner in, or chewing chewing gum, but this got really bad. So I went back to him and he had to give me some gastro tablets called omeprezole im not sure how you spell it, but I have to take these all the time now just so I can take Ibuprofen. as I had acid reflux from taking the ibuprofen which was the cause of it all. He said I could of endded up in hospital
So If you have been taking these or even asprin then get to youself you the hospital and tell them.
But if not then it could be something you have eaten at the nighttime. Dont take rennies or gaviscon, when I have really bad trapped wind in my back stomach and chest, which could be what you have as its ten times worse than indegestion, take windezee capsules these help, better than anything, if I have rennies or gavison it makes mine worse and I feel sick afterwards as well.
If you have not eaten in the morning since forever then I dont think that would be it as your body will be used to it, but if you have just started a new job and missing breakfast as you have to work early then maybe have a bite to eat before you go, as you stomach might be just getting used to not being fed.
If the pain is in your back and stomach rather than in one place like you chest, a hot water bottle will help to ease the pain. If it hasnt gone within a few days got to the doctors there might me something else being the cause of your indigestion.

Hi there i really sympathise with you, i have had the same problem since i was in my teens (im now 30). Some ppl do have excess stomach acid, its quite common. I take medication called Omeprozole which controls the acid production in the stomach. What i would say to you is that not eating will make it worse for you, the stomach produces acid when you eat to help digest it. If there is nothing in the stomach there is nothing for the acid to soak into. If u wake up in the morning and its really bad, i would have a glass of milk, milk neutralises the acid - IT REALLY WORKS!! Also, have a piece of toast, even if its just plain toast because butter/marg might make it worse. When its bad, bland things like rice, pasta, bread, will help you. Do go see your GP, they may be able to give you medication.
Best wishes Zoe x

you not eating anything for over 5 hours can actually be causing your heartburn b/c your stomach doesnt have any food so the acids build up which cause you to have heartburn. Eat something light between those hours like a low fat yogurt (especially vanilla) those tend to soothe your stomach and AVOID citric juices. I'm 18 years old and have been diagnosed with Acid Reflux Disease (GERD) its not really an age thing b/c i have heartburn since i've been 14. It mainly has to do with your lifestyle and your genes (it runs in my family)

The best remedy for heartburn is 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and make sure you stir it for 60 seconds. This activates it. Heartburn is over production of acid. Baking soda is alkaline and will bring you back to balance. Don't eat late at night for a while and see how you feel.

I can totally understand why you've been getting heartburn sweetheart. Maybe it's just the stress of working such long hours and maybe it's a combination of working SO HARD and not eating for a good few hours. Try not to let things get on top of you, that person that you talk with is gonna try and be there for as long as you need them. Just try and relax and take things easy
Much love and respect

make sure you stand erect for at least 1 hours after you eat.
If you lay down on a full stomach the acid is pushed against the flap the closes the stomach and the acid damages the SEAL of the stomach.
Sit up or walk for at least and hour after eating allows the body to heal that seal and keep the stomack gas out of the wind pipe.

not eating is probably WHY you are having heartburn. You wake up, your body starts perking along, including your stomach. Which means it is producing acids, but you aren't putting anything in there to digest, so guess what? all that acid starts splashing around and up into your esophagus and you get heartburn. Funny how that works. Stop being ignorant and eat something for breakfast.
