I think it is an old wives tale - but anyone that does it near me will find themselves coming out in bruises on other parts of their anatomy as I beat them senseless in an effort to make them stop!!!
It's a HORRID thing to do!!!

Likely not. I'm not saying "definitely no" because, while cracking knuckles is common, research on its effects is not. We have only a handful of studies on the subject. None shows a definite link between knuckle cracking and arthritis.
However, cracking your knuckles is neither harmless nor desirable. The arthritis connection may be an old wives' tale, but cracking your knuckles can hurt your hand in other ways, and there's no benefit to it.

It can't give you rheumatoid arthritis because that's an autoimmune condition like asthma or hayfever. Osteoarthritis is just caused by wear and tear on the joints, so I suppose the question is whether cracking the knuckles causes sufficient wear and tear to contribute significantly to the risk of developing the condition. My opinion is that you would really have to be going it some, and either be really bored or just enjoy cracking your knuckles to achieve this state. I don't think there's too much of a risk.

Imagine for a moment your arthritis completely vanishing right now.
If, in a moment, your pain and stiffness melted away. And your joints all of a sudden functioned like a well-oiled machine.
Like a magic wand was waived, you'd be able to jump up from your chair and run around the room like a kid.
And imagine that you'd never have to suffer as much as a pinch of arthritis stiffness or pain ever again.
I know this sounds impossible right now, but bear with me, because sometimes miracles happen.
It was a gift from a woman on the other side of the world. From the kindness of her heart, she took pity on my suffering and taught me how to completely reverse my arthritis.
Today, I want to do the same for you!

Myth.
When you crack your knuckles, you create an area of low pressure within the joint. The characteristic crack or pop sound is the nitrogen gas (that we all have in our bodies is allowed to escape).
However if you have one joint that characteristically clicks all the time for example your left knee when you walk this is not the case, and professional medical advice be sought.
If you still have concerns seek medical advice for confirmation.

they have done medical research on it linked with if your knees click that is precursor to it as well and found there is no link that just ear pockets if crack knuckles and get arthritis is just coincidental
