Pain & Pain Management - August 2007

I get migraines everyday, I'm only 21 years old, and its ruining my life. I have been taking off from work way too much lately and All I Do is stay in bed with the lights off. I tried taking tylenol, advil, motrin, Almost every OTC medication and NOTHING helps me. I don't know if I should even go to the doctor and waste money just for him to tell me to take something like tylenol ect. Even at 1500mg Of Tylenol, it still dosn't help at all. My boss at work is getting sick of me taking off, but I can't work with this pain. On A scale From one through 10 my pain is like A 9. I have had broken bones before and THIS IS MORE PAIN THAN THAT!!!

What would A doctor do? Would An X-ray show whats wrong? If not, what do they do? I just want to see if going to the doctor would even be worth going to.

theres a little ball in my hand below my middle finger just above where my wrist meets my hand (i dont know what its called) but thats where all the pain comes from and stems out from there, anyone know what it is? how to treat it?

I dont think its Carpal Tunnel becasue i dont have any numbness, tingling or burning just constant nagging pain.

I was prescribed it this weekend from my doctor and it's like 5/500mg. When I took it Saturday night It didn't help the pain as much as I would have liked it too, so I took another one 4 hours later. Is that too much to take?

This morning, I hit my right hand (the back side, not palm) fairly hard on the corner of a marble area in the foyer at my work. The pain was very bad when I first hit it, and now each second it is getting worse. It feels like I may have hit a nerve or something, and it's starting to creep down my right arm. I am able to move my hand, fingers and arm (obviously, I'm typing), but like I said, it feels like sharp pains. Any thoughts on what this could be and should I get it checked out? Is this just temporary pain that can be solved with tylenol or something? I use a computer for work, so any advice would be helpful. I can't find anything on-line that doesn't sound like a foreign language to me. Thanks!

I have been waking up in the morning with horrid lower back spasms. So bad that I cant get up, hardly walk, bend over...anything really. I have a 5 month old so this has been a problem. I do have DDD so I know some of the pain is coming from there....but this has been going on for weeks. It gets better if I take vicodin, soma and some ibuprofen. My doctors have not been too helpful....say its probabably the "normal" pain from carrying around a baby but I know its not. The pain is unbearable in the AM. It gets better, like I said, but never goes away. Could I have a disk problem? I dont know what to do. Everytime I have seen the docs they just give me more pain meds....and now when I call I think they think that is all I am looking for.

I tried weaning myself but my psychological dependence on the drug gets in my way. Do you have any advice or tips that might lessen the withdrawal or just make it a little easier? I'm taking 2 50mg pills twice a day, how long until the worst part of the withdrawal is over ad how long until i should feel normal again?

She has mussels which are no longer connected to her shoulder, due to mussel wasted and several falls, they are damaged. She has been told by the hospital, that they can not do nothing for her. But she is just in exscusiating pain. She is only taking CO Dydramol. Is there any medication I could ask for her. Or any treatments that could be done. As I am at my wits end, to know who to turn too.

I have not had sexual intercourse for some time (about 36 hours). My left bollock is throbbing like it has a headache. I very much want to emit it's contents & i feel this desire is causing me pain.

I can't go to the doctor with this problem as he will laugh at me. Maybe a woman porfessional would be better suited to hear my pain. Has anyone else ever got this pain?

How do you make it stop..?

it has happened at least twice before when I wake up in the middle of the night and my wrist (but mostly my thumb) hurts so bad that I have to cry. The first night it happened I literally thought I had broke it but it was too late to wake up my mom so I just splinted it and went to bed. When I woke up it was fine. It just happened again last night. What could this be from?

Im serious the pain is excruciating, I cant stand to bend my writst or move my thumb when it happens.

For quite a while I have had very occasional right side abdominal pain. I can go many months without a symptom, then, for a few days feel right sided pain.

The location is always the same - just above the beltline, a stabbing pain in a single spot that goes stab...stab...STAB... and so on. The episodes last only a bouple of minutes, then goes away, sometimes for hours, and sometimes for months.

I am 62 years old, in otherwise good health, 6' 195 lbs, and have no symptoms associated with this pain.

Yes, I've gone to the doctor (two PCP's and a neuro), and they agree that there is nothing at that location to cause this pain. One sent me to a neuro, thinking it may be referred pain from the spine, but the neuro agreed with the PCP's.. I have no back problems.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

I am on the waiting list to have a spinal cord stimulator implanted for chronic pain. I am really nervous and not sure what it will feel like, and is the operation to implant it horrendous, and is recovery quick?

I have had the trial for a week, and the pain relief was great, but it was uncomfortable - i dont know whether it is because, in the trial, the wire is left hanging out or your back, but when the proper one goes in it is embedded in the spine.

Can anyone tell me what to expect and what it will feel like? Are there any problems with everyday life? Help please.
