Pain & Pain Management - April 2007

I've been stretching and moving my neck around all day everyday this week but its still sore (its my first week of work)

There is this pain behind my knee i've been getting the past two weeks. I thought it would go away, but I guess not. I've been trying to do some research but i couldn't find anything about the pain I was getting.

It's behind my knee, you can see it when I'm turned around. It hurts when I run or go up the stairs. When I'm walking, it's fine. It's not too painful, but it's painful enough to slow me down when I'm running. Does anyone know what this can be?

I am 60 and never had heartburn. Lately I've been getting it after eating candy with nuts or just plain nuts? Is this heartburn, or could it be the beginning of something else?

I have been reading through the different type of questions there was regarding ear ache and could get any one that has the similar symptoms as me

okay here goes. i get this ear pain. it feels like its really deep inside of my ear. sometimes it disappear with in 2 to 3 minutes. then on other times the pain will get worse and it can last from 5 min to 30 min. and at that stage it goes down into my neck and i cant move my neck cause of the pain. it also seems that by apply cold on it makes it more tolerable. i have tried painstillers but it doesn't make any difference. i basically have to wait it out. it will dissappear for months and then just suddenly pop up. i was oneday at the emercy room where a doctor told me my ear was red inside and it looked like an infection.

I was taking 8-10 10mg per day. I've got it down to 2-3 7.5 now. This allows me to "function" but I feel like hell. I am planning on going cold turkey as I have a 3 day weekend coming up. Unfortunately, I can afford my habit and my "guy" always has plenty. This addiction has gone on for 10 years and I am petrified of what it has done to my organs.

I have been having problems with sciatic pain for over a year now. The pain gets so severe that is feels like a knife is being thrust into my hip. I have been to the doctor and X-RAYS are negative, MRI are negative. They are going to send me to a pain management clinic and possible give me epithelia injections. I have been going to a chiropractor and he says my sacroiliac bone keeps coming out of place but there is now indication on the MRI, X-RAYS. It seems I live between tordol shots. I am at the end of my rope and I am curious if anyone has any suggestions or helpful advice.

I have coeliac disease, and whenever i eat anything containing gluten, it affects my joints and makes them ache, so when my joints first started to ache again the other day, i just put it down to eating something I wasn't meant to. However, in the last 2 days the pain hasn't gone away at all, if anything it's gotten worse...and I seem to be going numb in my wrists and ankles - it's extremely unpleasant. At first it was only happening every few hours...now it's every few minutes. I'm also certain that I have not eaten anythign else I shouldn't have. I'll go to the doctor...but I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas about what it might be..or if anyone else has experienced this? Thanks...

Does anyone have any experience with this? My mom has it and she thinks I am starting to get it but I think I would rather explain my symptoms to someone else and see what they think?
I am in my early 30s
Everyday my body starts to ache badly enough that I can hardly walk upright. Mostly the pain seems to be in my joints...my hands, knees, ankles and my back. Its kind of like how you feel when you have the flu. Completely achy. While I don't always wake up feeling this way....it does seem to occur on almost a daily basis. I do get some relief from taking a pain releiver (although am not comfortable taking pain releivers every day) but its enough relief to be able to go on with my day.
I guess I want to know if anyone else experiences this...has been diagnosed with anything...

I have been taking 40 lortabs a day, I need help getting off of these things before it ends up killing me. This has been going on for a year and a half now and im to the point that i want and am willing to accept help. I have told my parents,my husband and my doctor,they are all doing there best to help with my situation, but it is the hardest thing i have ever had to do. The withdrawals are unreal. I am attending narcotics anonymous meetings as of this week, but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated, especially on how to deal with the aches,pains, leg cramps, racing heartrate,just totally feeling like you cant go on. Please help if you can identify with me in any way.

I know someone who is addicted to vicodin, and needs help! He was first prescribed vicodin about a year ago for some joint problems. Well, he was on it for so long that he is now addicted. He is no longer prescribed vicodin, so he has to find them in other places. It is taking up all his money, and causing a lot of GI upset. He has tried to quit cold turkey, and even by weaning down, but his body can't handle it. He gets cold sweats, aches all over, and doesn't have the energy to get up and do anything, so he ends up giving in, because vicodin is so easy to find around here. Does anyone else have some advice for what he can do to quit? Or how I can help him? I've told him he should just go to rehab, or tell the hospital about his addiction, but he won't. PLEASE HELP!!!

I've been getting these weird pain behind my knee. It's not too painful, but it's painful enough to slow me down when i'm running. It hurts especially when running and going up the stairs. I figured it would go away by itself sooner or later, but it didn't... it's been about 2 weeks now. It feels like something's poking me in the bone when i'm walking. It may be a bone pain, but who knows what it'll be.

Hi. I am 25 years old and for the past 2 or 3 years my left hip has been going out of place. It goes out and then goes back by itself within a few minutes usually when I get up off the floor after sitting. It is very annoying and painful. What is causing this and is there anything I can do to fix it? I have been to the chiropractor and he didn't really say much about it. Also, I am a runner. I have 2 children ages 4 and 2.

Lately this week i've been getting this stabbing pain toward my ribs, and it goes up to my chest. It doesn't last very long but it is pretty painful. I told my mom about it, and she said if the pain gets worse, to get her right away and we'd go to the hospital, she also said it may be something like "Pleurisy" if thats it? It's really starting to freak me out, but I can't stand doctors. And i nearly pass out at sight of a needle.
Any ideas what it might be?

I thought I had slept wrong, but the pain has been going on more than 10 days. I can only sleep on my right side without to much pain. Much pain when looking down, or moving neck just right.

My sister has just been diagnosed with TMJ..How long can an outbreak so to speak last? She is not one for pain medicine so the doctor told her to take over the counter advil. Thanks in advance.
