Does anyone have any experience with this? My mom has it and she thinks I am starting to get it but I think I would rather explain my symptoms to someone else and see what they think?
I am in my early 30s
Everyday my body starts to ache badly enough that I can hardly walk upright. Mostly the pain seems to be in my joints...my hands, knees, ankles and my back. Its kind of like how you feel when you have the flu. Completely achy. While I don't always wake up feeling this way....it does seem to occur on almost a daily basis. I do get some relief from taking a pain releiver (although am not comfortable taking pain releivers every day) but its enough relief to be able to go on with my day.
I guess I want to know if anyone else experiences this...has been diagnosed with anything...
Thanks for your imput.

Yes I have it and you have received some good answers, especially some of the books, which should be available at a library. most PCP's can not give you a diagnosis officially, so you may want to get a referral to a Rheumatologist, which can take a while. The weather, for me, plays a big role in my pain wet and cold hurt! As far as pain relievers daily, I understand. You may want to alternate every few day on what you take. You should have a blood work up done as well to help rule out other illnesses that can be a cause of this type pain. Keep a journal for the specialist prior to going rating the pain and giving the location(s) I do not know where you live, but it can take 3 to 6 Month's to get an appointment.
Best wishes

My doctor told me that there are some "pressure points"...areas on the body that when you touch are sore. If a certain number of these spots are sore to the touch, then they diagnose you with fibromyalgia. Exercise and really carefully watching my diet has helped a lot. I hardly ever have symptoms. The symptoms you describe sound like what I had. At first, they thought it might be arthritis, because the pain was in my joints, but they x-rayed, and there was no inflammation in the joints. Another supplement that helps fibromyalgia is 5-HTP.

Yes, it sounds like you could have the flu and yep it sometimes runs in families. To confirm whether or not you have fibromyalgia I would recommend a consultation with a rheumatologist (drs who treat diseases and disorders of the bones and joints).

Two excellent books that you can read about fibromyalgia as well are:

Fibromyalgia for Dummies
Fibromyalgia and Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome: A Survivor's Manual by Devin Starlanyl (she has fibromyalgia) and Maryellen Copeland (she has Chronic Myofascial Pain Syndrome)

Devin Starlanyl's website is: http://www.sover.net/~devstar

You will probably have to diagnose yourself. A doctor will usually not have a clue.
Here's a good place for information:
http://www.immunesupport.com/chat/forums/login.cfm?b=FM
Cymbalta (duloxetine) is the only thing that I have found to help.
Fibromyalgia pain is normally in the muscles. Actually you will have little fibro knots that come up on your body. Mine would be on lower arms and upper legs. Hurting all over is usually how everybody describes fibromyalgia.

only your doctor will be able to tell you for sure , but here's what I think. my daughter has it and I may have it too, I started taking Magnesium supplements 2 months ago and they do help. I found through research that a lot of women have a magnesium deficiency. Try it and see. it will take at least 2 to 3 months before you begin to see results. and for ME it worked. now my daughter is also taking Magnesium supplements.

My husband's aunt has it and your symptoms do sound like it. Unfortunately I don't know much more about it other than it seems to affect the joints more. Sorry I could'nt help more.
