Advil and stunting bone growth is unfounded. The reason some doctors are saying this is because right now there are two lawsuits against Advil where the parents are blaming their child's short stature on Advil (these two children have Stevens Johnson Syndrome, a very rare allergy to most medications). Your doctor is saying this because he doesn't know and is just being cautious. The FDA has not backed up this correlation and, so far, the cases haven't gone to court. So switch your daughter to tylenol or whatever makes your doctor feel more comfortable.

Advil is a NSAID (non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug) so it has no addictive properties. You can stop it immediately without any effects at all.

BTW, there is a small percentage of people who are deathly allergic to NSAIDS and have suffered terrible side effects, even death. But, you must keep in mind that any drug or medication can have the same results if you are allergic to it. Unfortunately, you don't even know your allergic until you have taken it once or more times.
