I crushed a vertabrae in a car accident 11 yrs ago. At the time I was a very immature 18yo who had too much pride. I didn't go to my routinue check ups and now 11 yrs later I am dealing with pain but the doctors office that I went to when this happened said it's too late and I am not able to see this doctor. What options do I have?

I had shingles in 2003 and it caused nerve damage (phn). I take about four or five 5mg doses of methadone a week to control the intense pain in the trigeminal nerve in my face. I am afraid of becoming addicted to this drug. Loritab does me no good at all. Has anyone had this experience. I have a physician that will prescribe methadone but I would really like to get away from it and him. My family physician can write lesser painkillers but I absolutely don't know which way to go. Are pain management doctors usually effective?

I have been struggling with kidney stones for the past year and have been on loritabs 7.5 for a year. I have had surgery but I keep developing new stones . I take on average 6-7 a day. When I am out of pain and don't need these anymore is the w/draw going to be awful or is the does low enough that i'll be able to taper myself off?

Just moved into a flat that has a bed with springs and a mattress on top that is both soft and sags in the middle. Could this be the cause of my lower back pain. If this is the case, which type should I get to prevent back ache and hopefully help cure the pain?

I was seeing an orthopedic specialist because my dr originally thought that I had hip displaysia but when the specialist did furhter testing, he saw nothing wrong with my hips and diagnosed me with a bulging disc which showed up on an MRI of my spine. But he more or less said that I shouldn't be feeling much pain if any and made feel completely stupid for going to him which wasn't my choice anyway. So i'm just wondering if this is normally painful or if there could be something else wrong.

I have tendonitis and plantar fasciaitus (heel pain) and arthritis in my feet and spine and hip - I think the worst is in feet coz you cannot avoid walking and I have been told today that I will just have to put up with it. 24/7. How come, in this day and age does anybody have to be in so much pain? Paracetomol wont work. Allergic to aspirin and ibuprofen. Codeine just knocks me out and i can not function. Wot's left? I try to remain cheerful, but sometimes I feel like a moaning minnie and it is restricting my life quite severely.

I had four wisdom teeth and an impacted canine out on Friday. Today (Weds.), I feel as though I have been hit by a bus. If I take an ibuprofen at 10:30 AM, then a hydrocodone two hours later (12:30 PM), will I be O.K. to drive at 5:30 PM to my grad school class (it is 30 mins away)?

for the past month or so, i have been have abdominal pain in my upper left side. it is a constant aching pain but, through out the day i go through times where the pain is strong enough to take my breath away. Recently i have noticed that my left leg is swollen and when i press down on it, it leaves a dent in my leg that after about 30 sec. goes away. i have been tested for everything, mono, liver, pancreaitus,i have had an endoscopy,CT w/contrast, an ultrasound, x-rays etc. i am now waiting for a GI to call me. i was wondering should i wait or just go to the ER?

My husband has been on Oxycodone for about a year and a half. (He's had both hips and both shoulders replaced along with some other surgeries). I don't like the effect these have on him and neither does he (he sleeps extremely heavy-can't wake up to an alarm clock, not nearly as much interest in sex or physical activities, etc.) He used to be on Lortab before the doctor switched him to Oxy. He wants to switch back to Lortab because they are cheaper and they don't have as much of the side effects. I am wondering if anyone else has made this switch. Will he have real bad withdrawal symptoms while weaning off the Oxy and gradually starting Lortab?

I woke up yesterday and it felt fine, but the more I walked on it the worse it got. The pain is centralized on my knee(almost feels like behind the knee now). I originally thought it would get better after I slept, but when I woke up today I can feel pain even when I'm not moving it. It kinda feels like it's sore, but waaay more intense. what can it be?

He doesnt recall injuring himself at any time. The pain is there all the time but gets worse when he stands up. Every now and again his leg gives way on him when he is walking. I thought it may be growing pains at first, but now I am not convinced.

What are some opinions on medical marijuana? I think it should be legalized AT LEAST for medical reasons, if not for recreational use and industrial use. What do you have to say about it?

About three months ago I have had a severe dull ache in my upper right thigh that didn't go away. It eventually went away but had mild pain still. It is off and on. Then I had another episode of a dull ache and now it hurts all the time on the inner side of my right leg near the knee. And I can't put much pressure on top of my thigh (like resting my saxophone on my leg.) and still aches. I just recently went to a physical therapist and she did light therapy and gave me a few exercises to do with two more sessions next week. But each time I exercise it hurts. The only medicine working so far is taking 5 or 6 200mg of Advil. The therapist is not sure of what is wrong but she says my muscles somehow got out of wack. Can someone help me - I don't think this is the case.

i'm seeing my doctor soon, but i just wanted to see if anyone else has felt this way, and what it turned out to be.

i'm 24, in decent shape and reasonable health, but when i sit for a bit or sleep on my sides, i get these awful pains in my hips that shoot down my legs. sometimes i feel it in my lower back. i just got up from about an hour of sitting on my bed watching tv, and i could barely walk. forget sleep...i toss and turn to accomodate the pain, which eventually subsides. i don't have a history of any injuries in this area, the only thing was a spinal tap at 6 months of age while sick, but i'm sure that has no bearing on the feeling. i've been putting up with this for too long, which is why i'm going to get some answers.

have you ever felt this way? and what was causing it for you? any short term remedies for the pain until my appointment?

I was prescribed vicodin recently for long term use. I am concerned about the amount of tylenol I will be putting into my body. I remeber in high school would would disolve the pill and take the tylenol out somehow ( for recreational use yes) but I cant remember exactly how we did it. Does anyone know? I cant seem to find it on the web. I really need the pain relief but not at the cost of a new liver..

Then my body went OUT OF WHACK big time. I had to have scope knee surgery back in Nov. 06 so that i could do rehab to have a total hip replacement which i had on Jan. 11, 07. THAT went great (the hip) but then the knee started killing me and my back AGAIN. Well, i thought it was my knee but i went to my knee doc today and they did an x-ray on my back. NOW my back is all messed up again................i know they won't do another fusion but what did you think they will do?? I'm now stressed/depressed, etc. i don't know how many more surgeries i can handle??????????? What do you'll think they will do now???? The x-ray showed big spaces between my vertabres.
