I have been struggling with kidney stones for the past year and have been on loritabs 7.5 for a year. I have had surgery but I keep developing new stones . I take on average 6-7 a day. When I am out of pain and don't need these anymore is the w/draw going to be awful or is the does low enough that i'll be able to taper myself off?

I would think if you are strong willed enough that you can taper yourself off but you are going to have to deal with some degree of withdrawal. A year is a long time to be on them. It's awful that your stones keep returning. It is a very painful condition. Have they done the laser treatment thing with you where they put you in a pool of water and laser them? This took care of the problem in someone I know but theirs did not keep coming back. Hope you can get rid of them for good.

Since you're only taking the lortab as needed for pain, you're probably not developing addiction, so you will be able to come off the meds when you are able. However, quitting cold turkey will probably give you physical withdrawl symptoms since you've been on them for so long.
Your body has gotten used to this chemical in your system, that doesn't mean you're addicted, but it does mean that there will be changes taking place when you stop needing and taking the medication. Under your doctor's supervision, slowly taper off the meds and you will be fine.

You'll be tapered off. If you've been taking these for a year it's going to take a little while and be a little uncomfortable I'd think but you should be fine.
I wouldn't try to taper yourself though. Your doctor and you will develop a plan on how to proceed.

If you are only taking the Lortab for the pain, and not just to be taking it then it should be fairly easy to stop taking them. It may be necessary to taper off when you are ready to quit because they can be addicting. Talk to your pain managment doctor when you are no longer in pain.
