Demyelinating Neuropathy is when the myelin sheath that protects our nerves is deteriorating. Very painful. I have it in my feet and hands. Almost like perepheral. I have had it now for a couple yrs and I'm already on morphine "time released" tabs. No one seems to know how I've "aquired" this and there isn't any clinical studies on this but there is on perepheral neuropathy. I know this because I work in clinical studies. I only wonder what the future holds for me? ONE DAY AT A TIME!
Thanks,
Pattie

Is there any alternatives to pain management for buldging disks in the spine? I have been going to pain management for a few years now and it works, but I'm really tired of it. I want the pain to just go away. Is there anything else I can do to get relief. The disks that are buldging are 3, 4, 5 & 6, and it's been a total PAIN!!! Please help!

In early 2002, I was diagnosed with bulging/herniated L5 and S1 disks with an annular tear between the L5-S1 disks. My dr. put me on Percocet. Within 18 months, she had to increase the dosage to 7.5/500 mg, 4-6/day because the pain had gotten so bad. In May of this year, I switched medical groups and began seeing a new pain mgt. specialist. He said from the beginning that I've have to go to PT, but he did prescribe the Percocet and he added 30 mg of morphine, twice a day. By July, he said to take the morphine three times/day. By the end of July, I was so sick of taking meds (I was taking incredible amounts just to sleep), that I stopped everything, except the Perc. I've since found out that Oxycontin makes me hallucinate. The dr. prescribed 50 mg Demerol, but I've been unable to get it filled yet. I've been trying to figure out what is stronger, Dilaudid or Demerol? I have such severe pain that radiates into my right groin and down the exterior of my right leg. Please help!

Well, I am only 18 years of age, and I get these slight chest pains very spontaneously, they dont cause me terrible pain, but yet are uncomfortable at times, It has been occuring for about 3 - 4 days now. My family history has naturally high cholestorol. Something is telling me that I shouldnt be to worried about this, and that it will go away soon, but I am not sure if maybe I should take it to the extreme and go to the doctors. I need some advice, I am not very sure if I should be worried about this. Thanks for all your replies.

I have been diagnosed with bursitis in my knee, however it feels more like it is trying to dislocate on the sides. I have horendous pain on the inside of the joint and was told that the bursa is inflamed there and it should get better with pain medicine; it hasn't. I am overweight and that is the only thing the doctor was making sure to make me aware of...I know all ready that my weight does not help but something has got to help. I can't stand the pain or the popping, snapping and swelling in my knee anymore.

I'm taking Norco for a neck injury, now we've added Lexipro and then Klonopan for panic attacks and nightmares. I think I read somewhere the hydrocodone and the Klonopin isn't safe together. Can't find it on the internet; it just tries to sell me more! Anyone have any advise or past experience with this sort of combo. Hate to wake up dead!

I took 20mg's on Friday and abt 50 to 60mg's on Sunday. I had to take a drug test Friday at 2:00. They send the results into a lab and can detect any traces of opiates! How long do traces of the drug stay in your system and if i test negative but they find small traces of opiates in my system....can they hold that against me in court or prove that i have been using? Also...is there any way that you can test positive for opiates even if you havent been using? Do certain supplements, foods, over the counter medication leave traces of opiates in your system?

I currently am Dealing with a bad back. I saw a Orthopedist and was told I need surgery in the future and for the time being I need to be on long term Pain meds, and to go to a Pain Management center. One Prob, my insurance, so I was told by my ortho to go to a Doc that could deal with the same meds as the pain center. Found a Doc, have been on Oxycontin and Norco for the last year, Norco for much longer. The Doc I found realized after a few months that my isurance there was not covered, so again I had to find a new doc to cover, went to my original doc, family doc, she said she could write me my scripts, two months later she says she is not comftorable with them, like she talked to someone and they scared her or something about them. So she trys to get me into a pain center, we are in contact abou the process, next thing you know im callin her for a refill and im told ive been released because i shouldbe at the pain center, well im not there for 2 weeks, what do you I do inbetween?

I have had plantar fasciitis in my left foot for the past 2 months and have been getting treatment for it. A week ago I fell down 5 stairs due to weakness in that foot. Now I have really sharp pain when I walk alot on the foot. Pain is centered outside of foot, in front ankle. Podiatrist said it is either a bruised bone or a sprain. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know if this is carpel tunnel or something else. For about the past 5 years or so my hands have been cramping if I hold something small, like a pen, paintbrush, cooking spoon, anything small like that. Even fingernail clippers, scissors - anything.

I am only 28 so I don't think this is arthritis. It is mainly in my right hand, because I use it so much more, but it has happened in my left also.

I don't have a job where I do this often, thankfully. I use my hands a lot, but for normal activities. Also, I was a piano major in college though I haven't played much since then.

Recently my hands have been falling asleep, mostly at night, but during the day also.

Typing does not bother my hands, only activities where I must hold something small.

Any ideas?

For a year now, anytime I get up from sitting or laying down both my feet hurt when I stand up to walk. After I walk for a few minutes it goes away. Up till about couple of years ago I use to stretch in order to get calves on my legs and I am wondering if I did something to my feet in the process as it required for me to sort of tiptoe and then come down on my heels. I've tried soaking them in warm water, massaging and it doesn't go away. When I do rub my feet there is no pain, but only when I get up to walk.
