Well, I am only 18 years of age, and I get these slight chest pains very spontaneously, they dont cause me terrible pain, but yet are uncomfortable at times, It has been occuring for about 3 - 4 days now. My family history has naturally high cholestorol. Something is telling me that I shouldnt be to worried about this, and that it will go away soon, but I am not sure if maybe I should take it to the extreme and go to the doctors. I need some advice, I am not very sure if I should be worried about this. Thanks for all your replies.

And also, I would like to add, that whenever I stand up and walk around the pain goes away, when I go back to sit back down I start to feel the pain again.

At such a young age, it seems unlikely it would be serious. But the pain could be a signal- you should consult a doctor. Good luck.

You should see a doctor just to ease your mind - worrying can just cause you more problems. At your age, like others have answered, it is doubtful that it is anything serious so don't stress about seeing the doctor. It sounds to me like a pulled muscle but taking medical advice from yahoo answers can be very dangerous as most of us aren't in the health care profession. I did have a similar problem and my rib was dislodged which had pulled muscles around it. Make an appointment, just to ease your mind.

I won't give you an answer to "what it might be" because it could lead to anything. First, see a doctor, he'll give you an EKG and probably a check on your esophagus and stomach for a hernia or ulcer. I can't believe anything could be serious at your age but, without knowing your history I'd say, see the doc now!

Chest pains can be indicative of anything. It can also be heartburn, an acid reflux symptom, that you are experiencing after a spicy meal. Here is a useful resource site on acid reflux

You should make an appointment to see your doctor. It could be anxiety. It could be your thyroid. It could be your heart rhythm. It could be muscle spasms. It could be pleuritis (inflammation of the pleura around the lungs due to virus).

It could be stress, and maybe a poor diet lately?
