You can do the typical things like chewing gum, drinking something or swallowing hard.
There is not much that can be done other than that.
The pressure needs to be equalized and swallowing helps to create that equalization.
You can also try plugging your nose and closing your mouth and blowing. Some people say that works, but I find it makes it worse.
Good luck.

You need to equalize the pressure by pinching your nose shut ,keeping your mouth shut and attempting to "blow your nose" while doing both of them. This is called a "val salva naneuver" and will force the air pressure from your attemped nose blowing to press out on your ear drums, equalizing the increasing pressure from the a/c descent, and eliminating the pain. The key is to do it GENTLY. (may have to repeat it a couple of times). Don't do this on the way up---just swallow repeatedly.)

Chew gum.
Hold your nose and gently blow out. GENTLY!!
You're attempting to even out the pressure in the cabin and in your head. It's kind of like being very deep in the water.
Good Luck!!

Happens to everyone. The cabin pressure changes with the altitude.
Chew gum, swallow. It will clear soon.

Chew gum. Failing that (or if it gets confiscated), go through the motions of chewing gum. Works for takeoffs, too.
