When I was younger into my late 30's I needed alot of sleep 8 to 10 hours to feel refreshed for the next day. Now I can get by with only 5 to 4 hours of sleep and feel great!

I was in the hospital recently for 5 days, I had just gotten some surgery done on my ribs. On day 5 I woke up from a nap and I couldn't move my left toes no matter how hard I tried. They weren't 'asleep' and didn't feel tingley. This lasted about 20 seconds, but it felt like an hour. It was truley terrifying.

The nurse said she had absolutley no clue and that I should ask my surgeron when I see him on tuesday.

I have been on a lot of drugs recently for pain and I was wondering if this had anything to do with it.

I was just curious as to if this has happened to anyone else.
I appreciate any feedback :)

I'm just curious, in the day of technology everywhere and computers why are prescriptions hand written?
yesterday in the drug store pharmacy a pharmacist filled out a prescription for medication to be taken 2 times a day. The doctor wrote it for 4 times a day. Luckily because the guy engaged in some small talk with me and told me why he needed the medication the pharmacist caught the error. None of us could make out the letter that set this whole thing in motion. She ended up calling the doctor to get everything straight. I know some people have messy handwriting so why are prescriptions handwritten instead of typed?

I'm Canadian, and the Canadians won't give me enough meds for the duration of my vaction, its retarded. So when I'm in south america how do I get meds there? like how does it work exactly? and how much would it cost? like do i have to pay $10 to see a doctor to write me a prescription and $10 to buy the meds at the pharmacy? :S are doctors and meds cheaper in 3rd world countries? so would it be easier to get them there than here?

I've never had problems with constipation before, but today i just got it really bad. About 10 this morning I tried to go, and it hurt and everything, so I just drank some water and tried a little later. At about 2PM my mom went and bought me some prune juice, strawberries, and cans and cans of beans. None of them have helped. I've also had bread today. It's almost unbearable now am I'm scared to try to poop again because I don't want another hemmorhoid(sp?) because I've had one before and they're not fun. My mom also got me some stool softener but I haven't tried any yet. Any suggestions? (right now, it's a bit past 9PM and I still haven't been able to poop.)

Ok to make a long story short... in middle of march I had a Nuclear Medicine Scan to check the function of my gallbladder. It showed it was functioning at 40% -- so we met with a surgeon and booked surgery to have it removed. Late march I had my gallbladder removed. The next week I ended up being diagnosed with Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. Anyway, so I babysit for a radiologist and he was taking me home one day and we were talking about surgery and the NMS (nuclear medicine scan) and he asked what my gallbladder was functioning at and I said "they told me it 40% so thats why they removed it". Then he said "i read those scans everyday and about 30% is normal". So i told my parents but then we were busy and never really got around to getting back to my surgeon. Should I go see him or e-mail him. It just bothers me that he did the surgery when my gallbladder was fine. Thanks :)

ok so I think I might be getting a bit of a drink problem and it is detrimental to my health. I tend to binge drink at the weekends. I would like some serious advice on how I could say plan to go to the pub an dhave 3 or 4 drinks and then leave. I usually drink myself into oblivion and I am just fed up of doing it. What can I do? Perhaps I should pre-arrange for someone to collect me? Does anyone have any remedies that they use?

Hope you can help. This is serious even though I joked in the question. Thanks in advance

I've been waking up either around 3 or 6 in the morning to go the bathroom for the past week! This never usually happens...but I'm back at college now so I'm not really sure why I'm doing that. I just want to sleep through the entire night without waking up...is there anything that will help me do that?

This section really scares me. A lot of people sound like they have serious symptoms but they haven't seen a doctor. Instead they are asking strangers to diagnose them online.

What is wrong with this picture?
