How do you sleep at night. Straight out on your back, or on a specific side, or on your stomach?

My friend's daughter, now 13, has been diagnosed as the poster child for ADHD. She's described her thoughts as watching a TV with someone else changing the channels uncontrollably. SHe's taking medication for it and everyone else used to say it helps, yet the last time I was over visiting, she hadn't had her pill for the day and was doin fine, but her mom made her take one, and she actually got MORE random and hyper.

Do kids outgrow their ADHD as they get older? I've never heard of an adult with ADHD.. does the brain simply adjust itself as it matures?

im 14 and i have really dark circles under my eyes! i am going on holiday for 2 weeks to cornwall on thursday (2 days away!!) and as i cant wear makeup during the day (it will just wash off in the sea) i cant cover them up. i also have really pale skin so i look sooo gaunt and awful without makeup... i am currently putting on fake tan but i really could do with getting rid of the dark circles. i am going to bed early tonight but for some reason my body never seems to think i need mre sleep as even if i go to bed at 10 or 11 at night, i still usually wake up between 8 and 9 in the morning.. and this seems too early as it has resulted in tired dark circles. it also takes me around 2 - 3 hours to get to sleep at night and if i wake up earlier than i would have liked, i cant get back to sleep! has anybody got any idea on how to get rid of them (quickly) or how to fall asleep quickly? I REALLY NEED HELP OR I WILL LOOK AWFUL ON HOLIDAY! thanks xx

An odd question, but stay with me: I haven't had any health insurance for 7 years. Now, finally with a wonderful new job, my excellent health insurance benefits start tomorrow. There is so much that I need. When should I go to the doctor? I'm posititive they will find little things that I have had for a long time, but done nothing about - will they determine it to be a pre-exsisting condition? I mean, if I go the first day of my insurance, they will know that I had this medical condition before my insurance was in place - does that make a difference? I don't know how it works. Thanks!

My Husband insists he does not have it but if we are at the movies or driving long distances, I notice (or rather feel) him shaking his legs like crazy.

I am sure his does, but I haven't researched it at all yet.

I had never heard of this until rather recently.

Thanks for any responses.

A few friends of mine claim they have a hard time falling asleep without the tube on. One friend says he has to sleep with loud music on because he has night terrors if he doesn't. Can anyone explain this?

I just cant seem to wake up, I have tried the following things but none of them have worked:

1. Set up upto 3 alarm clocks with some of them really loud that they wake up my neigbours but not me.

2. Have placed the alarm clock(s) away from me so that I have to wake up and walk upto it to switch it off, but I still shut it off and went back to bed

3. Have used a snooze clock, I snooze it for so many times that it eventually stops snoozing and switches off

4. Have tried drinking loads of water before going to bed so that I have to wake up to pee but over the period of time my capacity to retain urine in the bladder has increased and now I can control my pee for hours when sleeping.

Any more good suggestions??

Im 23 years old, and usually have the feeling like my brain needs oxygen. I get the feeling of tiredness, exhaustion, light headedness when I try to exercise, and just an overall uncomfortable feeling.

I get plenty of sleep and rest, about 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night, uninterrupted, not that much stress in my life or job, I just have a constant feeling of grogyness, which makes my job difficult, makes it so that I cant workout or train my MMA, cant even study to learn something new.

Also I get plenty of water, eat healthy and regularily, plenty of calories, protein, carbs. Also take daily vitamins and a good ginko biloba formula.

Anyone have any advice other than going to see a doctor, if thats your only advice please dont answer to the question, I plan on going when I have more money. Just looking to see if someone else has experienced this, and what they did to fix it for the time being. Thanks everyone.

My mum had bladder surgery on Friday, but didnt recover well, but docs did a chest x ray as her oxygen levels were low and she fainted twice. They say they saw a shadow on her lungs or one lung and she is waiting for a scan now, the docs told my mum it could be a chest infection or blood clot as she has had a cough for 6 months too and brings up stuff sometimes, not blood though. My mum had never smoked in her life and is not really subject to passive smoking, but all I can think is cancer!!

Does anyone have information to the contrary, or know the chances of it being something else?

Many thanks

okay, since about friday night i have been getting these sort of stabbing pains around my chest (mainly on the left hand side few inches below the nipple) the worst of the pain is when i breath in as far as i can. but just breathing in normally still causes slight discomfort.
Should i just wait for it to pass or could there be somthing wrong?

it would drive me crazy. my brain felt like i was in a time warp and a thousand problems just kept going through my head. i would be dreaming but still awake and my parents would try and calm me down. id be talkin crazy stuff. id get up to try and walk it off and go to the toilet in case i have to throw up but id still be dreaming and panicking. all these problems rushed through my head. sometimes a thousand numbers would appear coming from all directions and i would panic. i remember one time my sister helped me fall back to sleep only to wake up realizing the same thing is happening still and i would then get upset. is there a name for this?
