I know that MRI and CT scans are very expensive to get done. I know you have to get a referral from a doctor but I'd like to know: do doctors usually write the referral for a MRI/CT check for cases in which they believe it's serious? I believe this referral/request for a MRI / CT scan can't be easily obtained from a doctor unless you were like seizuring or having extreme headaches. Would doctors even write it for small tiny symptoms that could just be anything? Or do they write if they deem it's VERY serious? What do you think?

I recently went to see the new documentary/movie, Sicko. It really opened my eyes and has given me something to think about. I am a nurse and pay over $5000.00 anually for my family's health coverage. Plus, on top of that, we still pay a co-pay with each Dr visit. I am really curious to know how the people REALLY feel that have "free" healthcare and do they feel that they get quality healthcare?

Sometimes I will wake up like 2 hours later than usual on the week ends. You'd like to think that the more I sleep the more rested I'd become, right? But it seems like the more sleep I attain, the more drowsy I become when I wake up. Is there a reason for this? Physiologically speaking?

When I woke up this morning, my right foot was aching so badly. It's like this throbbing pain between my big toe and the second toe. I wasn't wearing flip flops yesterday or anything that could have aggravated the area. When I looked at the bottom of my foot this morning (between the big toe and 2nd toe), the area was red, and I felt pain when I touched the area. Even with my foot elevated, and not touching the area, it still hurts. When I run my finger over the area, I can feel a slight hard bump that isn't raised enough to notice it unless you run your finger over it and apply a bit of pressure. What is this? I can hardly walk, because it hurts too badly.

I'm only sixteen, 5'3 and only 120 lbs. and I've already got veins on my ankles and legs. Can i do anything to prevent from getting more? And I know that there is surgery to get them removed, but is there a less drastic approach to making them go away?

What can you do if a dr. performs surgery and then lies about his findings? He tells you on several occasions that you have a strange growth that can not be explained. He does tell you it isn't cancer so not to worry. I later decide to get a second opinion and with that realize there was never a growth. But something that can easily be explained. What do you do?

I work for a home health agency.. As a cna. today a coworker called and told me she was in the office and over heard I am going to be fired on monday after they follow up on information they have on me.. Here is what happen.. Today I have a cleint that never gets to get out of the house.. So on my day off which was today.. I went to his house , I picked him and his grandson up and took them out to eat.. I paid for them along with my two children.. Just to get him out of the house, SO he can get a break from being in all the time.. This Pt is able to get out and go infact the MD office said it would be better if the pt did get out because he is becoming depressed. because he cann't drive any longer..
I don't think I did anything wrong that would go against the compay I didn 't except money from him or was there any talk of money. SHould I fight it or should I just let it go being I start school in the next couple of months..Just say the hell with it and stay home with my kids..

i am changing jobs because of an unexpected offer from a previous employer and need to pass a drug test by Monday.(4 days) Does anyone know of anything that I can do at home to pass it? I need to get a ct scan of my brain with contrast. I was told by my insurance company that they will not cover because it is pre-existing. Why do i have insurance again? I am confined to a wheelchair, and I need it so I am not a bother to others during the day. It does get rather ripe after about 6 hours, and the lysol I use isn't working to well. Also, anything organic would be a plus!

For about 5 days now ive had insomnia. Ive only been getting on average 2 hours of sleep. I have tried Elavil and it had no effect. Is there a good Over the Counter medicine that i can buy to help me sleep until I can get in to my docotr. This is drivng me nvts. I am also being plauged by anxiety and feel like my throat and stomach is on fire when I lay down the 2 later has started since day 3. I think its to much hours no sleep. I need to find something to help me sleep or im gonna goinsane.

my right knuckle years ago hitting something, so when i touch the knuckle today or press it against anything solid i get shooting pains in the knuckle, plus theres a slight dent and indentation in the knuckle......even though i had an exray done and it shown nothing, no fracture....
if i wanted to take up a sport like kickboxing or karate or any physical sport, with these injuries, how could i do it?
wont i be able to ever now?
plus if a fight occured and i had to defend myself, how could i with these problems?

I have the money to pay for it, so I don't need the insurance to cover it..But the medical forms ask for that information, and I don't have health insurance yet ?

Does it matter ? Can I get the surgery without it ?
