Today I have a cleint that never gets to get out of the house.. So on my day off which was today.. I went to his house , I picked him and his grandson up and took them out to eat.. I paid for them along with my two children.. Just to get him out of the house, SO he can get a break from being in all the time.. This Pt is able to get out and go infact the MD office said it would be better if the pt did get out because he is becoming depressed. because he cann't drive any longer..
I don't think I did anything wrong that would go against the compay I didn 't except money from him or was there any talk of money. SHould I fight it or should I just let it go being I start school in the next couple of months..Just say the hell with it and stay home with my kids..

Surely your agency has a written policy on the contact you can have with patients outside working hours. If they did not inform you of that policy before you started work, then you can sue them if they fire you for violating a policy of which you were not advised.

If there is a policy and you knew or should have known about it, then they can discipline you. In most cases, you would be reprimanded rather than fired, as long as you are otherwise doing a good job and representing the company properly.

It hinges on whether there is an established policy and you were properly informed. Did they give you an Employee Handbook? Did you read it? If they did and you didn't, you are on your own.

If there's no policy, then they should not legally be able to fire you for that reason alone.

Is this coworker a friend? She may be trying to get you worked up for nothing. If you like your job, stay where you are. The information given to you may be incorrect. If it is true, and you are fired, let your patients know IMMEDIATELY. I had a CNA a few years ago that was wonderful but she was fired. We called her employer and complained about her dismissal. We complained so much that she was rehired and back 2 days later. Your patients have a lot of say with your employer. Let those you help, help you.

If you have been there for more than three months they can't fire you on the spot unless it was something like stealing. They should give you a warning and then you get three warnings and then you are out. Also, it was nice of that person to say something to you so you are prepared but if you say something you would be getting that person into trouble so don't mention it yet. this warning will give you time to prepare your arguement for monday. I think what you did was nice and if I was the boss, knowing that it was against the rules but knowing you did it out of kindness i would talk to you about it but nothing official, Unfortunately some people just love to feel they have power and they will use it. Also when you started you should have signed an agreement. They should have given you a copy to take home also. If that was mentioned in the agreement and you signed, you may not have much of an arguement but if it wasn't mentioned I don't think they can blame you. You could take it to court but that could get expensive. If worst comes to worse ask them if you could resign. I have done payroll for two different companies. If you have any more specifics you would like to ask me you can e-mail me and i will help you in any way I can.
Also the world is becoming this way. Years ago everyone was so trusting but now lots of people are unwilling to help because they are scared. Like when soneone knocks on the door to use the phone, years ago you wouldn't think twice to let them and and use it. and also the person asking to use the phone would not be scared to go in but now you can't. One night some girls knocked on our door and asked us to call a taxi for them. That way they didn't have to come in. It worked for both of us!

might it be that you put the patient on a personal level? personally, i don't see a problem with that but they may. if you want to keep working, fight it.
