whuts the REAL difference between doctors 'n RNs??? i mean, i know that a nurse cant make a diagnosis. but, do they know just as much about diseases, medicine, and science as a doc??

oh, and, my mom and i r having an argument over whether RNs can evaluate x-rays to determine a patients condition or not.

help, please

I'm currently treating my tank for ick using salt and higher temps. The salt concentration is about 2% (4 tablespoons in a 10 gallon) and the temp is at about 86-87. My plecostemous is swimming like he's uncomfortable. Is that all it is or could he be in some sort of pain? Should I remove and quarantine him? Should I reduce the salt or temp (both were introduced gradually since yesterday)?

i play soccer and after a hard practice my body (esp. my legs and my lower back) always ends up being soar and aching for a period of 2-3 days. but i do carry my aches and continue to play the next day. is it healthy to take Advil or Aleve to reduce the pain every time i get such pain? will this affect me on the long term(pain killer addict) ? Or should I just tough it out?

We played tennis for about 4 hours then he felt a little pain in his heart so we stopped. We always drink water when we played 4 bottles for each of us. When we got home, I let him eat some noodles and a sandwich. Now he's vomiting. My other now brought him to the emergency.

Not sure what's wrong. This happened before when we played tennis. Last time, we didn't drink water and he felt pain in his heart. But this time that we drank water, he vomited.

Do you what's wrong with him? Exhaustion, dyhydration or something else? Vomiting is a bit extreme and Im worried it's something serious. He's only 26 years old and average weight.

Is it "broken"? Is it perfectly fine? What can we do to help those who are uninsured?

i'm double jointed in my fingers but not as bad as my brother i had a couple of questions about it:

1. is it considered a birth defect? if so wat happens and why?

2. does it effect the way u do things with ur hands? because my brother has some difficulties cutting with a knife (he's 11 years old) i always have to help him with that cause he can't hold the knife right.

3.is cracking ur nuckles while double jointed more dangerous then cracking ur nuckles without being double jointed

has anyone had difficulty walking, usually because they are tired and or weak?

I went to a famous health shop and they advised that vitamin E would get rid of that problem.

Has anyone else tried this?

What are your experiences with fainting? Funny? Embarassing? Stupid? Fake?

I have had low blood sugar for awhile now and sometimes I get careless and think I don't need to eat and then it gets me in trouble. Well, I was in high school and I decided that I didn't want to eat lunch.
I was in my english class, right after lunch and like 45 minutes into class (block scheduling) I started getting that weird feeling. The teacher was calling on people and she called on me. I could talk. I told her, or attempted to tell her that I needed to go to the nurse. It came out "noose peas". I kept repeating it and then someone "translated" and figured out that I needed to go to the nurse and get something to eat. I didn't make it but about 5 feet from the doorway in the hallway and then I crashed. I have learned from 5 years of experience to always eat, and always have someone as a translator to my "special language"

OK, so my grandpa has been at home with a hospice nurse for 6 months. He has Parkinsons.
Today, while the nurse was there, my grandpa began choking on a piece of doughnut.
The nurse did nothing stating that he wasn't suppose to do any heroic measures and that he could possibly crack my grandpa's ribs.

Thank God, my grandpa's body did the job itself!

Personally, I'd rather have a few broken ribs than to die while choking to death on a doughnut.

Now, what is considered heroic measures?

I am 35 years old and have smoked for 20 years. I have tried to stop in the past and allways end up smoking again.
For the last 10 years I have smoked milder cigarettes. These are typically half the strength of normal ciggies. I know I should stop but what I want to know is this....
By smoking lights, does my chance of premature death or illness decrease in comparison with a person who smokes regulars? Or do the manufacturers put other stuff in them to keep me hooked?

Yes, I do feel a lot, when it's that time of the month and I just want to know if it's normal. There are times when I just get very irritable, and when I'm so emotional and sensitive. I want to know why that happens..

Every once in awhile I get this real sharp pain in one of my lower ribs. Honestly, I couldn't say if it is always the same rib or a different one. It feels like it is right where the actual bone is. It doesn't happen often and usually it only happens once and its over, however it has been know to pulsate with pain a few times then just go away. Anyone have any idea what this is? I have had it since I was young but never bothered to see a doctor or anything since it is kind of a rare occurence.
