What are your experiences with fainting? Funny? Embarassing? Stupid? Fake?

I have had low blood sugar for awhile now and sometimes I get careless and think I don't need to eat and then it gets me in trouble. Well, I was in high school and I decided that I didn't want to eat lunch.
I was in my english class, right after lunch and like 45 minutes into class (block scheduling) I started getting that weird feeling. The teacher was calling on people and she called on me. I could talk. I told her, or attempted to tell her that I needed to go to the nurse. It came out "noose peas". I kept repeating it and then someone "translated" and figured out that I needed to go to the nurse and get something to eat. I didn't make it but about 5 feet from the doorway in the hallway and then I crashed. I have learned from 5 years of experience to always eat, and always have someone as a translator to my "special language"

Yes, it's embarrassing but, you can't let that bother you because when it happens, it happens. I'm hoping that you have had this evaluated by a Doc. There can be underlying physical reasons for the low blood sugar. In the meantime, be sure that you don't skip meals and keep snacks handy. I hope that this helps.

I once fainted on the subway. It was embarrassing. The car was absolutely packed and I had had nothing to eat that morning. I had to stand up because no seats were available. I started feeling very hot, dizzy, lightheaded and nauseous. I decided that this was NOT going to work out for me so I promptly sat on the floor (or at least I thought I did), I probably did some sort of ungraceful slump. At this point I was only catching every few seconds of my surroundings. When I opened my eyes after to what felt like to me a second later, I was laying down across several seats with about 20 people staring at me. The train was stopped and there were announcements about how there was a sick passenger aboard and we would be moving shortly. Now this was during morning rush hour and everyone wants to get to work. I could feel their hatred seeping out of their eyes... it was horrible.. I closed my eyes pretending to be out again.

The train started moving and it stopped at a station. About 5 or 6 EMT workers picked me up and carried me onto this little cart. I had to sit, completely conscious, feeling almost completely renewed while they wheeled me down the entire subway platform with everyone watching.

I have fainted a few times, and I always lose vision before I go out. The first time I was about 10 years old, and the teacher called on me and I stood up and couldn't see. I finally managed to say I was not feeling well and she said to sit back down, but I had stepped into the aisle and didn't know where my desk was. Apparently I was pale enough that she eventually asked somebody else to help me sit down.

Since then, I have learned to sit down on the ground or sink down to my knees to clear my vision, and then make my way to a chair.
Haven t fainted in years. Don't know why I did then.
