Effective digestion of plant food requires a means of dealing with the most important structural material of plants, cellulose - a carbohydrate polymer which is extremely insoluble and remarkably resistant to chemical attack. Cellulose digesting enzymes, cellulases, are present in the intestinal tract of several invertebrates that feed on wood and similar plant products. These enzymes are, however, absent for some reason from the digestive secretions of vertebrates. Herbivores, which rely on plant material for nutrition have bacteria in the gut, usually living in the appendix, that can digest cellulose and allow the animal to make use of the energy derived from its breakdown. We humans lack these organisms and simply pass out cellulose undigested.

Apple skins and Potato skins are both unique and healthy for you because they are good sources of water soluable fiber. You body will digest them, as opposed to most fiber which just passes through you.
So long as you're eating red apples, don't worry about the red 'flecks'. Although maybe you should chew more and drink lots of water.

The bulk from fruit skins and grains is the fiber all of our diets require. This is what keeps our waste from impacting.
Yes some of it will pass through your system, but most of the nutrition in fruit is in the skins.

They can be partially digested as there are more vitamins just under the skin but the cellulose cannot be digested .It is perfectly normally to see bits of skin, don't worry.

The fiber in the diet cannot be digested so the skins and stuff that you have been eating, will yes indeed come out in poop.
