What do you guys suggest I do? I obviously don't want to get into that stuff and be an actual smoker...I just tried and but I REALLY enjoyed it..but there's just too much side effects(tar, lung cancer risk, bad breathe, smelling bad, and most importantly I had asthma as a kid and I think it's affect the lung where my heart is right now..its kinda hurting a LITTLE bit). Any suggestions? Any words to discourage me from smoking in the future? I really want to not do this anymore...

My plan will happily cover an abortion and yet deny the simple expense of a diaphragm or any other type of birthcontrol. Where is the logic in this?

Surely this is beauracratic b/s.

My husband and I will be fast asleep and he'll wake up in a panic. He says he feels like hes not getting enough oxygen. He tries to take deep breaths and go back to bed but he says he feels like hes jumping out of his skin. He can't sit still he gets up and walks around. Hes tired as hell but can't get back to sleep. He keeps saying he can't get enough oxygen. He tells me he knows its all in his head but he cant control it. I think it might be anxiety. but it only happens at night while hes sleeping and it wakes him up. I have to give him one of my xanax to go back to bed but Im telling him he really needs to see a doc. Does anyone have any ideas on what it can be.

I've had chronic insomnia for a really long time, and I've tried just about everything imaginable. Nothing really works. Last night, a friend told me she'd heard that eating lettuce at bedtime is supposed to help you fall asleep and sleep more soundly. She went on to say she'd heard that the Chinese are known to feed babies lettuce to get them to sleep. I've never heard of such a thing. Is there any truth to it?

I was so stressed out today, had to go for a pre-employment check up at a last minute notice.

Slept at about 4am and a phone call came in at 10am asking me to go for an immediate check up without any prior notice (what the hell?!)... and I have not even taken my breakfast or medication at that time...

140/100 was the calculation... and my age is only 23!

The usual medication I am on was Atenolol 50mg (I was previously on 100mg and HCT), but as my pressure was down, my dosage went to 50mg.

Right now, I'm on 100mg and HCT once more... and I need to return for a re-check up next week.

Is there a way to bring it down to the lowest in just a matter of 6 days or so?

I'm planning to take lots of nap, some exercises and continue with my fruit & vegetable diet (minimal oil, fat and almost zero meat).

What do you think and what's your suggestion?

I'm feeling pretty down right now... its just 'unfair', somehow... but its life eh?

Thanks in advance :-)

Sometimes two or three times. It's really annoying.

I don't drink after 5pm and try to get back to sleep when I wake up needing it, but I can't.

Any advice?

I can sleep during the day but find it very difficult to sleep at night. Just wondering whether there are any medical reasons why this is happening?

My mum (76)was knocked down by a bus. No broken bones but she suffered sub-arachnoid bleeding. Three days unconcious and 11 weeks in hospital, toward the latter end of her stay she was awaiting a "care package" to be put together prior to her release. Then after making staff aware that mum's progress was deteriorating as a result of lack of interaction with therapists (they had done all they needed to..", they finally agreed to let mum return home. A month after her discharge, the care plan still wasn't in place and now, SIX weeks later the plan has come into effect but adds to daily frustrations rather than alleviates them. In ten days we have seen about 8 different carers...so a trust or bonding cannot form. In the original "assessment" for care, we were given a 7.30 to 8.30 "window" for the carer to turn up, yet we've seldom had anyone turn up before 9am and some as late as 10.40....this adds to mum's confused state. As a result of her injuries, mum's memory took a knock and placed her back almost 30 years. We had to deal with her realisation of her mothers death. Her First remark was..."you knew and you didn't tell me.." The accident has worsened her diabetes, taken her from diet controlled, to tablet medication. Six weeks since her release now, and mum still hasn't had a blood sugar monitoring appointment. It was supposed to be today yet with an hour to go before her appointment the doctors rung up to cancel...I explained that mum was becoming more confused and I thought her sugar/insulin levels may be causing this. The last four nights now mum has slept for minutes instead of hours...being her chief carer I have slept even less, becoming more anxious and worried at her breathlessness and lack of sleep. It seems she is getting more and more confused, could this be dementia or altzheimers? and where oh where is the help I need to confirm or deny my fears....when am I supposed to get MY share of sleep? I am becoming weaker myself and more distressed over mum's worsening conditions. Any advice will help and hopefully shed light on what I can or cant ask for...I know there are organisations that help, but the current lack of professionalism by the appointed care agency doesn't offer much hope. I feel imprisoned in my own home, I can't get a job to pay the mouting bills, neither it seems can I trust anyone else to actually CARE for my mother...what can I do?

I was never into sports, I dont like running for the ball. I was always avoiding sports. except I do like bicycles. then I work like any other person, not too much but I dont just sit all day in the house. I keep going out in the nature and all that stuff, climbing trees, but I'll always be lazy and sleepy. I can go to sleep at any time in the day and I will sleep for hours. I even have problems waking up. then parents thought I stay up all night and I went to sleep at 8, but I still slept until noon next day. but anytime I need to do something, I dont want to, I'm always lazy. but I'm not fat, I'm skinny and I eat healthy. and I dont wanna be lazy. I'm not like some spoiled kid that is really lazy and refuses to work. I just dont have that thing to go and do something. I even barely go shopping.

doctor didnt found any sleeping disease or any disorder. I was even looking for a job that doesnt needs so much work. whats wrong with me?

Two weeks ago i went to the ER for extreme dizziness, they did blood tests and told me it was stress. this week it has gotten even worse so i scheduled an apointment and they told me it was BPPV and they gave me dramamine. I dont get as dizzy now but i looked online and i have all the symptoms of Meniere's disease and it says it can cause permanent hearing loss so now im afraid that if this continues i can go completely deaf.

If I see the ENT (who already diagnosed I had problems) and book surgery, would the ENT also be able to fix my nose so that it no longer looks broken?

By that I mean it is crooked, it curves to the right, so the left side looks bigger, but the right side looks more crooked.

And there's a bump on my nose.

I feel my tip has also swollen up because of all the crap I've been through, I might have some problems there too. Can he remove tissue there?

I think insurance would at least cover most of this surgery right? It really affects my breathing, mentality... every day life pretty much. I can't exercise because of this problem.

I get on average 7-9 hours of sleep a night, I just burn out by that last class- I wish I could squeeze in a nap, but thats rarely an option, if ever. Which food items give you that energy boost?

*I don't consume caffeine or taurine at all though*

I have a problem with stress, i don't understand it, i like being active in my school but sometimes it just seems like too much. and when i look at it i dont even do that much, i get all A's which is a job in itself, taking extra hard classes, am on the journalism/yearbook staff, homecoming and prom comittee, ect.

Well anyway. i recently had an accident and missed four days of school due to being on crutches and stuff. My school has a rule that you can only miss 3-5 days of school within a semster, when you miss 3-5 you need to get atleast a 75% on all your exams or they withhold the credit. I work extremly hard to get good grades so i can not stress out over exams. Does this seem fair? I also might have to get surgery on my knee, so i might have to miss more of school...which would suck more

I am stressing over the homework and tests that ive missed. ect. any tips? plz?

I have had insomnia for the last several weeks now. I saw a dr. and he put me on a prescription sleep aid which only seemed to work for 4 hours or so and then I was wide awake again. I did not like the way it made me feel either. Kind of aggitated and not feeling right. So, I have melatonin. What is the most of this I can take at night time before I go to bed??? I have 3mg tablets. This won't harm me will it?? I want sleep. I don't drink caffeine or eat chocolate. Does ANYONE have ANY ideas to help me fall asleep and stay asleep?? I don't really have much faith in my dr. after this medicine he put me on. It was horrible the way it made me feel. Someone please HELP me!!
