I was so stressed out today, had to go for a pre-employment check up at a last minute notice.

Slept at about 4am and a phone call came in at 10am asking me to go for an immediate check up without any prior notice (what the hell?!)... and I have not even taken my breakfast or medication at that time...

140/100 was the calculation... and my age is only 23!

The usual medication I am on was Atenolol 50mg (I was previously on 100mg and HCT), but as my pressure was down, my dosage went to 50mg.

Right now, I'm on 100mg and HCT once more... and I need to return for a re-check up next week.

Is there a way to bring it down to the lowest in just a matter of 6 days or so?

I'm planning to take lots of nap, some exercises and continue with my fruit & vegetable diet (minimal oil, fat and almost zero meat).

What do you think and what's your suggestion?

I'm feeling pretty down right now... its just 'unfair', somehow... but its life eh?

Thanks in advance :-)

I'm sorry to hear that Bear.
Gee.. 140/110 is scary..

You need to reconsider your 'lifestyle' maybe..
Are you active? Do you do sports? 1 hour/day is good. 1 hour fast walk is excellent. Doesn't matter what time or which part of the day as long as it is 2-3 hours before your sleep time.
Are you wise with your food intake? You don't need to do the extreme. Eat balanced diet and in moderation.. not almost zero in everything..
Do you get enough night sleep? (No more sleep at 4 AM, please, even though you may get up at 12. It's better to sleep early and get up early.)
Do you get enough rest? Given you are on a roster, you need to follow a sleep schedule. Make a schedule and follow it...strictly.
Are you in a stressful environment? Do some meditation. Give you plenty of time to relax.
Do you smoke? Say good bye to your ciggies.
Do you drink alcohol? Clean up your wine shelf.. 1 drink or 2 per week won't hurt actually.. ;-))

Cheer up.. Feeling pretty down won't help. Having hope for future is important, but the most important is to live for today and enjoy the moment.

Take care of yourself, okay?

eat more potassium rich foods, like raisins, canteloupe and potato skins. potassium is natures natural blood pressure controller.
Would also recommend you pick up a book that is well worth reading...NO More Heart Disease by Dr. Louis J. Ignarro, some amazing information that will keep you heart healthy and without need for any medications for blood pressure.

Your diastolic of 100 is much worse than your systolic of 140.

Garlic will help to reduce your blood pressure and is particularly good for reducing diastolic pressure.

I have high BP also, cut back on the salt, exercise and
see if your Dr can change the medication.

The old-fashioned and cheap water pill diuretic has seemed to help me.

So sorry to hear that! I hope you feel better.

Perhaps you should do more meditation over the next week.

Miss you.
