for one thing the kidneys don't stop working just because you go to sleep. However, needing to urinate that frequently at night could indicate a few problems that your doctor may be able to help you with. Suggest you see him.

You should see your doctor. If you're not drinking after 5pm and going until the next day without a drink, this is not advisable. You should consume at leat 4 litres of water a day to keep your kidneys and bladder healthy.
Hope this helps.

It's not that you go frequently (This could be a problem like DIABETES perhaps you get a blood sugar test done ),
but it may be that....
A) you are drinking too much before going to bye byes. Someone has already explained that your kidneys still continue to work at night.
B) it could be that you are not sleeping soundly and therefore when you stir in your slumber you are unable to get to sleep agin because you are aware of an amount in your bladder. It may not be much.

Cause you don't go before you go to bed... two or three times in one night is excessive though so you should go to the doctors to get everything checked out.

It's just a habit that you have got into, perhaps try to cut down on liquid intake in the evening.

consult a physician if its already annoying.you are not taking any
medications are you that makes you urinate such as diuretics, anti hypertensives to lower your blood pressure. Then it wouldn't harm if you see consult anyway prevention is always better than cure.
