General Health Care - November 2006

Even when I've had a full 8 hours sleep and woken up naturally (no alarm) I can fall asleep standing up, between one word and the next during a conversation. I'll fall asleep in the car on the way into work and on the way home in the evening, on the couch an hour or so later.... Why is this happening?

Hi, my blood pressure goes up pretty easily. I am at work and things are stressful and i can feel my chest getting tight and my hands are shaky and ideas you can think of to help me stay calm while being in work....

Ihad the same problem last winter, or whenever it gets cold, and no-one has come up with an answer yet. When the weather gets colder, my head feels like it is in a vice, especially the back of my head and my teeth ache as well (but there is no problem with my teeth). I also get very dizzy. Is it a sinus problem or what?

I decided last night after a rough weekend, that I am quitting smoking and drinking starting today!! I have been drinking heavily since college, 5 years or so now, I have been smoking for the last 3. My life has gone to **** since I started drinking so much. cause a breakup from a 5 yr girlfriend, caused me make numerous mistakes that i wish i could take back, and even giving me a bad reputation among fam and friends lately. Any advice to help me along? anyone else gone through this? I am one of the most determined people u will ever meet once I decide something, but any additional advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have been having a problem with feeling like I can't keep my eyes open. I just feel like I want to sleep all the time. I have absolutely no energy, to do anything. And I am always in a bad mood and biting everyones head off. I sometimes feel like I could explode. I have come to the conculsion that this happens alot more about 1 week to 1 1/2 weeks prior to my period, and every month it seems to be getting worse.

I'm currantly doing my NVQ3 Health and Soical Care (Children and young people) I'm really stuggling with it. My assessor isn't much help, she's a training assessor being assessed assessing me, the only advice she gives me is to read through the unit i'm doing then just do it trying to cover as many pc's and kr's as possible. Not much help at all. I'm geting very down about it. I don't know where to start. My assessor is expecting a unit to be completed and verified by christmas!!

I'm 13, and since my mom refuses to take me to the docter to get a X-Ray on my ankle that could indeed be broken, as I can't put any weight on it, nor can I stand on it, and if I move it in the wrong wat, it turns into pain... I fell on my skateboard... and my mom keeps saying, "Walk on it, you need to stop babying it" ," You don't need to go to the docter".. and all negative stuff like that..

and well, if I call a friend for a ride there.. can I use my mom's insurance? Or does she have to be there..??

When Im in my dorm room (on a nice memory foam mattress pad and pillow no less) I wake up multiple times per night for 5-10 seconds then fall back asleep. This past week, over break, I slept at a relatives house (on a couch bed) and, while this happened once or twice, it occured much less frequently. Last night (in my dorm room) I took a little valerian root, too, and still woke up pretty frequently. I feel that the result of this problem is that I am unable to get a good, full night's sleep every night and am slowly creating a HUGE sleep deficit. Please help!!

I'm really worried about my little sister, she is only 16 and has a lot to cope with at the moment, she is in the middle of exams and our dad is ill. She seems very depressed, I have tried to talk to her but no 16yr old wants to talk to their 24yr old sister- recently I found a stash of different painkillers in her room including my dads prescription only cediene, my mum says she is always taking paracetamol and ibruprofiene - are there any signs of this sort of addiction and what should / can i do?

knee hurts all the time even after taking strong prescribed medication. im concerned that if MRI is done and surgery that my knee will not be the same again. and thats if they find anything. worried that people think its just in my head. what do you think??

Who do I go to, to have this removed? Soap and water won't do the trick either. The joints in my fingers has gotten thicker through the years,and a few extra pounds on me. The ring just barely moves maybe an eighth of an inch and stops. Does the jeweler do this? Hope I don't have to go to the doctor. I'm getting a new band for Christmas this year. The old ring doesn't pinch, I know I need help removing it though.

For the past few hours, my stomach has been killing me. It's the lowerish right side of my stomach, starting from right next to the bellybutton. When I press it, it hurts and when I move around, it hurts.

I don't need to go use the restroom and I don't feel like throwing up so I don't think it's indigestion. I ate a sandwich 2 hours or so before the pain started. At first the pain wasn't in any spcific area and just felt uncomfortable but now it really hurts in a more localized part of my body.
