Pleurisy is a lung virus it makes you hurt when you breath.

2006-11-28 14:47:48 · 7 answers · asked by Anonymous

Lately, I have been experiencing the urgency to always take a deep breath, and am unable to (most of the time). When I try to, its as if my lungs don't expand as much as they should.

I also have a tendency to yawn frequently, which results in the same thing (not able to fully yawn).

I just feel like I can't get the air I need and always want to take a deep breath or yawn.

I don't smoke/drink/or take any kind of pills or medication either. And nobody in my family experiences anything like this.

Does anybody know if this is a known condition, and if there is a name for it? If not, what should I do about it? I am already planning to see a doctor.

I want to join the Officer Training Corps at my university, but I have ashtma. I have had it for 10 years, been a national athlete, and never had an attack. It is well controlled, and I am in otherwise excellent health. But apparently I cannot join. Why is this? Can I join any other military programs?

A 68 year old patient w/ Alzheimer disease was broughtto the emergency room by the staff of a local nursing home. He presented as lethargic w/ a sallow complexion. He had an admission temperture of 102.4F and a respiratory rate of 33/ minute. During respiration, the right side of his chest moved better than the left. He showed dense consolidation of the lower lobe of the left lung on the physical exam. A sputum sample revealed blood and a greenish color. A chest x-ray showed tight consolidation of the left lung with evidence of formation of cavities in the lung tissue from cytotoxic damage. The patient complained of chills in the exam room, combined with his fever. A smear of his sputum demonstrated no acid-fast bacteria.

I've got cipro from some of my off shore business trips, and I've got a sinus infection. I'm taking over the counter symptom releivers, and rinsing/gargling with warm saltwater, and I'm drinking lots of water and juice, and I'm still miserable. It is becoming an infection (color is yellow, and sinuses are aching). I know that cipro is an antibiotic, and I wonder if it would do anything for this sinus infection that I have.

What is the difference? Do the colors show a sign of infection? Should I see a doctor, or wait it out?

I am a 34 year old healthy female. I had a cold, but have been over it for a week or so. I feel fine except I can't breathe deeply without a menthol cough drop or laying down. This has been going on for over 24 hours now. Called the doctor and they didn't seem particularly concerned and offered an appointment in a week or so. Any ideas?

Hello,

I have breathing difficulties through the nose especially the left. I've tried nasal sprays, strips to widen the airways of a night to no real effect.

I was referred to a UK NHS ENT specialist by my GP. The specialist said that I have a slightly deviated septum and that correcting it may not provide much benefit. However, I know for a fact that the space in my left nostril is almost half that of my right. I think the whole left side needs correcting.

I can't sleep properly. I dread going to sleep at night because I wake up several times, dry mouths, cracked tongue. Too tired to work properly most days and almost lose jobs.

I can't afford to have this done privately so what can I do?

Is there someone I can complain to like a regulatory body, etc.

Thanks in advance,

Lee.

Hi,

I'll get to the chase. My friend started hanging out at bars about a year and a half ago. Since then he's been going frequently and has had three coughing episodes that have lasted for weeks. It gets so bad, he can barely breath sometimes.

His last coughing fit started a little over a month ago and is still going on. He went to the doctors, who told him he has an upper respitory infection and gave him meds, but he's still couging up storms.

This kid is generally a healthy person who doesn't smoke or drink at all. Since so many bars are polluted with second hand smoke, is that what is probably causing him to cough so bad? He doesn't believe me that second hand smoke is bad for his body. I'm afraid for him. Could somebody tell me the adverse affects of long term exposure to second hand smoke and point me to some startling material that I could use to convince him? I really care about my friend and am afraid for him. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

One morning over a week ago I awoke with a throbbing headache centred just above my right ear & pain killers only offer temporary relief. I still experience stabbing pains in the same area quite often throughout the day & night. I suffered from acute asthma for over 16 years before but have almost licked this problem as I don't have to take anti-asthma medication unless the weather is downright chilly. However, I often experience slight breathing difficulty (wheezing) if I wake up during the night or early morning. So I believe that I'm also wheezing & my brain is deprived of sufficient oxygen while I'm asleep. So is it possible that oxygen deprivation or deficiency during sleep is the cause of my having such a lingering headache & how shall I tackle this problem without resorting to drugs?

Snuff is a very fine ground tobacco that you can either put into your cheek or lip, or inhale through the nostril.
My question is pertaining to taking it nasally. How harmful is snuff on somebodys nose, muceous membranes, and nasal cavities?
I do not want any links to websites please. I rather not navigate around and get unneeded information.
I use snuff about once a week, doing less than a teaspoon per use.

I promised myself that I would only smoke until the end of school. And that being a year away. Are the risks high?
