Snuff is a very fine ground tobacco that you can either put into your cheek or lip, or inhale through the nostril.
My question is pertaining to taking it nasally. How harmful is snuff on somebodys nose, muceous membranes, and nasal cavities?
I do not want any links to websites please. I rather not navigate around and get unneeded information.
I use snuff about once a week, doing less than a teaspoon per use.

Snuff is just as harmful as any other type of tobacco. It will cause cancer. Why don't you try to stay away from tobacco all together?

It's as bad as, possibly worse than, cigarettes. Althought the risk of lung cancer and emphasema is diminished because you're not inhaling any smoke, studies have shown that the increased amount of physical exposure to the carcinogenic chemicals that come from the juices and residue of smokeless tobacco actually INCREASES the rate of lip, tongue, nose, brain, throat & lymph node cancers. Also, longtime users experience loss of smell and taste, gum disease, and extreme tooth decay. Do yourself a favor and quit NOW while it's still just a once a week habit. You will soon become more and more dependent, and then quitting will just be a lot harder.

Some people use it for years--with no effects. Depends on the person, used to be that many people used it nasally, but I haven;t seen anyone do that in a long time.

Certainly can cause cancer--a guy in my senior class in high school who dipped since about 7th grade had to have part of his lower lip and jaw removed due to cancer from the tobacco.

It has the same risk as any tobacco use, of causing cancerous lesions and has the added risk of developing perforations into your sinus cavaties.. which leads to your brain.
Have you ever seen anyone with mouth/nasal cancer? They have to remove things.. noses, tongues, and throat cancer is fatal.
I wouldn't use snuff for a million bucks!

Well Ryan: I can think of about four or five types of cancer you can get right off the top of my head without thinking. Have you ever seen someone without a mouth? or thought how it would be to be without a tongue and part of your throat gone, eating through a tube?

The next time you take a cuff think of these things and then take that cuff and see how neat it tastes

since snuff used over a length of time causes cancer of the mouth, I would assume it would destroy other parts as well that are near the mouth since that stuff can get into your blood stream thru any open cuts, bad teeth, etc.
