this is off the top of my head as I remember it....there seems to be two types of candles...one that lets off a smoke that may be harmful and the other type that does not. I would think that would be more serious than a scented candle, and I would think that anything scented would be like scented perfume, just a fragrance and not harmful.

I personally have never heard of any internal damge being done by scented candles. If they could wouldn't most air freshners cause the same damage?

You are not supposed to burn them around pet birds, they can make a bird ill or cause death. That makes me wonder how safe they really are.
