I HAVE to quit smoking!!! I would love to hear from people exactly how they have done it. I am a pack and a half a day smoker. The longest I have made it is four hours without a cigarette. I've tried cold turkey with NO success!!! Please send me suggestions about what worked for you. No links please. I've already been there. I would really just love to hear personal experience!!! Thanks so much!!!!!

does the use of comparatively harmless drugs like hashish lead inevitably to the use of danderous drugs like heroin?

We have seen the pediatrician 2 times and he refuses to give any antibiotics. My son has been taking Triaminic, Dimatapp & Children's Tylenol all this time & it's not working. Breathing treatments help short term, but both my child & I are totally exhausted with this thing. What can we do?

For some reason, today I am having trouble breathing. I don't breathe normally, like how I used to. Right now, my heart is beating really, really fast, and every once in a while I have to take deep breath from my mouth. I am also shaking. I don't know if thats from the cold weather we have today, or just something wrong with me... Is it because I am panicking and stressing out. I'm worried about my scholarship application and essays, which i have to maybe rewrite, and i have to submit them by today...my mother also got fired from her job. Are these the reasons why i am breathing funny?? Or, is there just something wrong with my heart and lungs??

The D octor put me on antibiotics and pills that has guaifenesin in it.
neither has helped. I went to the ER and the Dr told me to use a nebulizer . that helps me to breath but I can't cough anything up. and a few hours later I can't breath again. I go in the bathroom & force myself to cough & I get some phlem up and I can breath again. but my chest is tight or I can fell something in my chest. after a few hours my chest is tighter again & can't breath . I am afraid that I used the nebulizer too much & have become dependant on it. But still there is something in my chest. can anyone help

My mother in law has ALS and is now going to sleep using a bpap machine to help her breathe better.
My father has E., do you think I should suggest to his Dr that maybe he could benefit from one of these as well?

Hi all,
I'm a 30yr old asthmatic and I stopped smoking 2 weeks ago after smoking pretty much on and off for 16 years, which has to be a good thing!
However i feel like absolute crap! I knew that i would probably feel a bit off and start coughing up all sorts of rubbish but never did i think i would suffer this much!

A friend of mine stopped at the same time and she feels on top of the world!

Has anyone else suffered the same or have any advice for me???

I gave up smoking over five years ago now but it still has not stopped me from getting emphysema i can't prove it is smoking related but it has taken 5 years to surface,
I also get recuring plurisy which each time seems to get worse infact i have just come out of hospital today after the antibiotics and steriods that my doctor prescribed did not seem to work this time, The hospital has put me on 2 types of stronger antibiotics as well as steroids this time.
I am getting some strange feelings in my body but relize that i must carry on with this course of treatment.

So to your that say you cant stop smoking STOP now before it is to late seek help if you have to it is avalibale to you all.
This disability will affect me for the rest of my life,
and it aint fun i can assure you.

For 2 years now, I've had a dry (non-productive) cough. It happens during the day and subsides when I sleep at night. Sometimes just lying down quiet the cough significantly. I start coughing the minute I get out of bed in the morning, and continue coughing throughout the day. I'm not coughing up a lung here, but it's bothersome nonetheless. My voice hasn't changed, though. But lately my chest has been hurting, it sometimes tightens up. And my heart skips a beat sometimes, as well. Sometimes I even get these shooting / stabbing / sharp pains in my chest (mainly on the left side). I've had x-rays taken, they were clear. Doc says it's a "nervous cough" but offered no relief. I'm beginning to wonder whether this is a sign of something worse, like a precurser to a heart attack. (If it helps, I have type 1 diabetes.) Any advice? Thanks.

ok to say buy a book and quit smoking,it makes money for the author the publisher etc,but it cannot stop you smoking,I quit without the aid of anything except willpower, and the reality that it would have eventualy killed me and take all my money,I am now a none smoker, and will never smoke ever again, and wondering why I ever smokes in the first place, you have to want to quit, nothing will make you quit
