neither has helped. I went to the ER and the Dr told me to use a nebulizer . that helps me to breath but I can't cough anything up. and a few hours later I can't breath again. I go in the bathroom & force myself to cough & I get some phlem up and I can breath again. but my chest is tight or I can fell something in my chest. after a few hours my chest is tighter again & can't breath . I am afraid that I used the nebulizer too much & have become dependant on it. But still there is something in my chest. can anyone help

Buy a cough syrup with an expectorant in it and hope your chest drains. If you are having serious trouble breathing, go back to the ER.

A cool mist vaporizer, increasing your fluid intake, When you are not going out for some hours use a menthol rub on your chest and back. An over the counter expectorant Mucinex is a good one to use. These all will help you breath easier.

You need to see the best doctor you can for cardio-pulmonary diseases. It could be a little congestive heart condition. I use Albuterol inhalers and Vospire pills which contain Albuterol and it helps me sleep better at night because it makes me breath easier without so much wheezing. Good luck to you (My problem is emphysema)..

You won't become dependent on your nebulizer, but if you're really short of breath, it could be very serious. Please see a doctor (or go to your ER) to get help with the chest tightness. Your chest tightness might have nothing to do with congestion in your chest, so please seek help.
