I agree with "no_life_I" as to the basic differences between a PT and an OT assistant. PTs and OTs can earn post-graduate degrees and go one to head up a department. An assistant is just that. This position requires an Associate in Applied Science degree and an assistant works under the supervison of a registered OT. If you decide to go all the way, you will have more autonomy.

I used to work in rehab.
The physical therapist treats them physically. Helping them to re-learn how to use their body. Like walking.
The Occupational therapist taught them everyday skills, like tying their shoes. Answering the phone. Being able to work again.
Both hands on jobs and very rewarding.
Good luck!

Occupational therapy deals more with helping patients perform activities of daily living like feeding themselves after a stroke or opening packages, dressing, bathing, tying laces, etc...
Physical therapy is more about strengthening your body and regaining in durance. Also physical therapist sometimes deal with wounds. They can debread wounds and stuff.
