I have (C.O.P.D.) I use Advair and Combivent. Advair is taken twice daily. It is a power inhaler. the Combiventis is taken when I really get bad and can't breath, because I over did it and i take a couple of puff of an inhaler. Not to be use more than about 4 times a day. There is no repairing the damage that I have done to my lungs.I will die with the problem that I have brought upon myself by smoking. So if you smoke. QUIT. If not DON'T START.

I have COPD. I am 60 years old and on total disability. Every case of COPD is different, depending on the stage the patient is in and how long you have had the disease. It is a disease that is not the same every day.

You experience a lot of anxiety due to the fact that you cannot breathe. I am on oxygen 24/7, take 2 different inhalers, Xanax, Zoloft, Uniphyl and other drugs daily. Without them I would be dead. You experience depression because one day you can be active and feel good. The next day you gasp for air like a fish out of water and can't get out of bed.

Drugs that help me might not help you. It is a terrible disease. It is not always caused by smoking. Mine is caused by smoking for over 40 years. When I was young we didn't know it was bad for you. But I didn't quit when I knew the facts either. I know the true meaning of "hindsight is 20/20".

There is a natural substance called CQ10 enzyme that is supposed to help improve cell reproduction in cardiac and pulmonary patients. What it does is enhance the surrounding cell structure that makes the cell stronger and possible rejuvenates the cell itself. What COPD patients need to do is improve their lung structure and function and reduce the dependance of oxygen. My mom had this and what I learned was that once the lungs get "squishy" or in other words like a sponge that , they, the lungs actually hold fluid in and can cause all kinds of problems. Mom was on oxygen the last two years of her life, so she pretty much was homebound. She smoked all her life and didn't quit early enough. Sad to say....it was the cause of the COPD. Good luck...

It depends on how severe the pt is. But usually, Albuterol, and Atrovent for acute respiratory difficulties, Advair for chronic, then there is theophiline, and the person maybe on O2 for the rest of thier life. Quit smoking will help improve.
