I will be asleep and wake up gasping for air like I wasn't breathing for a while. Has this happened to you and do you know why this happens? Do we actually stop breathing? This has only happened maybe a couple times a year but was just wondering.

Albuterol is ordered for patients with a restrictive problem. Pneumonia is mainly an obstructive problem. When there is no wheezing, oxygen saturation is good and breathing is not labored, then there is no need for Albuterol nebulizers! Also, most patients present with no history of COPD in these cases.

It looks kije dried blood and comes out with no effort and quite unexpectledly. A nose specialist loked with a probe and said everything looked ok. An x ray taken by an internist showed (he said) a chronic sinus condition and he prescribed antibiotics which didn't work. I have no other symtoms. Does it make sense to see another specialist?

My husbands aunt went in for an operation on her ankle after a fall and now she can not breathe on her own. She has COPD but is not on 24hr oxygen. She is in ICU because she dosnt have enough oxygen in her blood. They are keeping her asleep until they get it up. She had the operation on sunday. They said they would keep her on ventilators for a few more days. We are so confused about what will come next. Any advice would be great.

It looks like I'm over the cold, but not the cough. I pretty much feel fine, but I can't shake the cough. I have a persistant cough, the non-productive type (non-plegm type). I have to admit it's a nuisance since I do technical support over the phone.

I just started my job, so I'm one month shy of insurance.

Any suggestions to get rid of this cough?

And the difference in their symptoms.

I have asthma. Usually around times when I have frequent asthma symptoms I get abnormally tired. Mostly, I would be be able to do my regular chores and then afterward fall out sleeping as early as 8:00 PM in the evening and wake up after a good eight or nine hours of sleep. However, sometimes I am so tired I can't do anything else but sleep, up to 18 hours in one day!! During those times I don't even have the energy to eat.

I've talked to my doctor about this. He says it's rare but possible. Am I the only one who has this asthma symptom? If you have asthma or know anyone who does please let me know.

Thanks!

I came down with a cold at the end of last week, I also have mild asthma, been coughing and wheezing, I only have a blue inhaler which doesn't seem to be helping much at the moment. I can't get into the doctor's til tomorrow morning, but I'm at work at 5 tonight and I really don't want to call in sick as first day and only a 2 and a half hour shift. However I'm going to be speaking to people on the phone so really could do with not being bunged up! I'm using vicks the vapo-rub and the sinex spray, got lemsip cold and flu tablets, beecham's chesty cough syrup, lozenges, have been steam inhaling and drinking honey and lemon, does anyone have any suggestions I haven't tried? My boyfriend thinks I just shouldn't go to work and wait til I've seen a doctor, but I really don't want to miss my first day.

So, it started with an inflamed ganglion, then it converted into a sore throat until finally disappearing while at the same time developing nasal congestion and coughs that would not go away, not even with over the counter medicine...then after 6 or 7 days of nasal congestion I developed a mild back of head pain, and the day after that it developed into a horrid headache in the top of my head and it gets worst when I walk...its throbs without pity and i have to just stop for a second cause it just pulsates...now I have had this headache along with nasal congestion and coughs...I just wanted to know if someone has experienced a headache like this...how should i treat it...will it ever go away?

Theres this new thing college students are trying. you put dry ice and vodka together and then inhale the "smoke" that occurs when the 2 things combine. Is this thing safe?

I was wondering how likely it is that a person growing up in a home with heavy smokers and being obese as a child results in pet/food allergies and asthma? There is no family history of these conditions, I think his mom has respiratory problems but that's probably from the smoking. Would there be any improvement with losing the weight and living for some years without being exposed to long term second hand smoke? He's skinny now and doesn't have any problems with asthma anymore. I'm worried about bringing pets into a home once we're married (dogs more than cats, he's fine with their pet cat right now). He was pretty bad with my dog (a golden retriever). Would a "hypoallergenic" one be ok (not a hairless one)?

I have been on Omnicef for 5 days now for a sinus infection and bronchitis. Today I have started to have a pulsating feeling in my right ear that is driving me crazy. It doesn't hurt, just pulsates. What could this be? I am still sick and have alot of drainage and a heavy chest. No fever. I feel as though I am going to drown in all the drainage. Could this all have something to do with the pulsating feeling I have in my right ear? What can be done?

My throat is very dry and raw. I can only whisper. Water and other liquids hurt it. I can't swollow any liquids. I can eat food though. My mother looked at my throat and said it doesn't really look red or anything. I haven't yelled or sung or done anything to over use my voice. I'm coughing up something clear that kinda looks like saliva. It could be that or something else. I've tried honey, tea and soup. My doctors office isn't open tommorow and I don't know what to do! I'm not running a fever and besides a headache and throat aching im okay.

Two weeks ago I was sick with a low grade fever, muscle aches, stuffy/runny nose, and was coughing up mucus. After trying OTC medicine I went to the doctor and was perscribed Azithromycin. A week after completing my perscription my symptoms came back and once again I was perscribed Azithromycin. With one dose left to take I have not gotten any better. What could this be?
