Let's examine this. First, dry ice is composed of frozen carbon dioxide. In its gaseous state, CO2 is coloress and odorless. The hazard posed by carbon dioxide is not that it itself is poisonous, but that in sufficient quantity it can asphyxiate; that is, by blanketing us in its own impenetrable layer, it can prevent the oxygen we humans need to sustain life from reaching us, in the same way water causes deaths by drowning without itself being toxic.

Secondly, inhaling alcohol vapors isn't all that safe either. A couple of years ago a device that vaporizes booze was marketed in the US. It has been banned in many states because of its health hazards.

Lung tissue wasn't designed to undergo this chemical assault. Drinking booze (especially to excess) can be hazardous enough.
Be safe.

Of course not! You are inhaling a high alcohol content into your delicate lung tissue. (It is possible as safe as inhaling scummy pond water into the same delicate lung tissue.) Doesn't alcohol burn when you pour it on your skin? How do you think it feels when you suck it into your bronchioles?
Also, you will have bypassed your entire GI system which is capable of metabolizing the alcohol, and put it directly into the pulmonary and cardiac systems. Thus, you have incrementally increased the odds of overdosing on alcohol. Since the body can only metabolize 10 mL of alcohol per hour, it's capable to OD by binge drinking. This can be reversed if treated medically in time. BUT if the same amount of alcohol is inhaled, then medical intervention would be too late.
Dry ice? Liquid nitrogen? Sure, that's another substance that's great for the lungs.
So which college kids are doing this- Alpha Beta Suicidal?

The first question is what is in the Hookah? Anyway, not inhaling the smoke is always better than inhaling if it is regular tobacco. If its pot, then you are just doing it to fit in, and trust me, if you don't inhale your friends will know anyway, so if you don't want to do it. Simply don't. If you really only enjoy the taste, then go for it. But realize that you are still putting it into your body either way.

I would think you should be smart enough to answer this question yourself but obviously not. A little common sense would tell you.....OF COURSE IT'S NOT SAFE!!!! Anything that you inhale into your lungs (other than what is medically prescribed) causes damage to your lungs and can even cause death.

Put it this way... If a college student is the one inventing it and putting it out there, I surely wouldn't be the first in line to try it out.
