It looks kije dried blood and comes out with no effort and quite unexpectledly. A nose specialist loked with a probe and said everything looked ok. An x ray taken by an internist showed (he said) a chronic sinus condition and he prescribed antibiotics which didn't work. I have no other symtoms. Does it make sense to see another specialist?

I have this same issue, as well as frequent bloody noses in the winter months. A doctor once suggested that I use a cool- mist humidifier when I sleep. I tried it and it significantly lowered the occurence of my symptoms. I don't know where you live, but when its cold and people turn up the heat, it depletes the air of moisture. In some people, this causes a drying of the mucous membranes which can lead to bloody noses and clots like the one you described.

if you have no symptoms of an infection, such as nasal congestion, or headaches, I wouldn't worry about it. Dried blood every 3-4 weeks is not a big deal. It can be caused by dry air and dryness in the nasal sinuses. Get an over the counter saline nasal spray and use it daily to keep your nose from getting dry. Stop looking at your boogs so much, and get a better hobby. Just kidding. Really though, I wouldn't worry about it if you feel fine.

See an Ear Nose & Throat doctor. It's definitely sinus related and they should be able to help you out.

Well if the doctor prescribed antibiotics, it must be an infection inside the nasal cavity
