In the past couple of days i've had a fever, nothing reaching over 101, a really bad cough (phlegm, hacking, etc), and the roof of my mouth has been hurting so much. It feels like there is a build up of pressure about half an inch from the back of my top two teeth. What do yout hink?

I have been on the 250 dose since it hit the market, but it seems lately that it's not near as effective. I know you can build a tolerance to albuterol, after using it for 28 years now. I know this would be best answered by my doctor, but was wondering tonight. And yes, I use it twice a day as prescribed, religiously. The older I get, the worse my athsma gets.

Hospice, as I was told, is not only for end of life care. It is also for pain management, particularly in the elderly. I would like to know of anyone who suffered at the hands of hospice by having their loved ones decline while under their care when they weren't in decline until hospice came on board. My father just died (Jan 5, 07) because of the drugs they administered for pain, in particular opioids (various kinds of morphines) when he was not a candidate for this drug because of previous respiratory problems. They were supposed to be the caregivers, not the executioner.

Will cold germs remain on nasal spray tips or inside the container indefinetly? I noticed twice that when I have used a nasal spray for stuffiness in my nose (not a cold) that within 48 hours I came down with a cold. Can cold germs live in or on the container for an unliminted time?

I was diagnosed with bronchitis a few days ago and I was just wondering if there was anything else I could do to ease the pain in my chest and throat. It doesn't help that I have asthma that becomes pretty severe when I get sick. Currently I am resting and trying to drink hot tea when I can and I am on antibiotics.

I was hoping some fellow asthmatics could help me out. I know Pulmicort and Singulair are preventative medicine for asthma, but I was wondering if you should expect to not have any attacks at all. What happens to you when you're on the preventatives?

The winter is typically one of the worst times for my asthma. My asthma was really bad for about a week, then I was put on Singlulair, have been on it for a little over 2 weeks. The past 2 days I felt SO much better. But today, I've had 2 small attacks, which I took Albuterol for. I was able to get through them during work, but it wore me out today.

Should I be concerned about today's attacks, or are my expectations unrealistic? What I mean is, should I expect to be totally cured of the attacks or should I anticipate still having them because it is the winter?

Personal experience to offer insight would be appreciated. Thank you :)

when I breath in deeply, my right nostril almost closes. What could be the cause of that?

I regularly wake up during the night and find that my breathing has become very shallow or seems to have stopped completely and I find myself gasping for air. This is sometimes accompanied by a buzzing sensation in my head, kind of like the head rush you can get from standing up too quickly, I seem to be still asleep when I become aware of this sensation (sounds impossible, I know!...) what I mean is that my body is still paralysed by sleep when my mind registers that it's happening and I have to concentrate hard to shake my head and wake myself up. This sometimes happens even when I don't stop breathing (or at least I'm not aware that I've stopped breathing). I'm male, 31, I'm healthy, I don't smoke and I'm not overweight, I don't snore but I do often get a blocked nose, I don't drink very often and my diet is pretty good, so what could it be? And what should I do about it? Help please!

I quit smoking two months ago and im only 20 years old and i had only smoked for around 4 years and i exercise alot. I do a lot of long distance cycling and BMX riding but lately I have been having problems with my breathing. Everytime I would take a breath it was like a half breath and would make my muscles in my neck and my chest tighten up. This used to happen over the summer as well after long rides on my bike.

My 6 yr old son had walking pnuemonia when he was 4 yrs for 3 1/2 months. After this, he developed asthma. He has allergies and was on clariton before it was OTC. Now he is on xopenex and pulimcort as needed and Singulair 5mg every night before bed. In the last couple of months, i have noticed that he is coughing a considerable amount in his sleep and looks tired in the morning. We are a non smoking family with dogs that are NOT allowed in the bedrooms. All the pillows and mattresses have the allergen covers, and we have hardwood floors that are swept at least once a day. I am concerned about his cough as it is worsening over time and wondered if this was a sign that his asthma is becoming worse. We have a doc appt with his ped next week, but wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts. Only serious answers please. Thanks in advance.
