If she has a lot of chest congestion you could try plain robitussion. It contains only an expectorant and will help her cough the congestion out of her chest. Also have her drink a lot of water with that medicene. It helps it to work. If that doesn't work or she does not have any chest congestion, then you should take her to see a doctor.

First: If your daughter hasn't responded to the over the counter meds within a couple of days, then you must get her to the doctor. Waiting & trying things that are not working is not going to help her.
Second you could do more harm than good giving a 7 year old adult strenght medication. These are designed for a much bigger body than hers & her body can't cope with them.
Please don't waste any more time waiting for answers - take her to the doctor.

If you have tried all those over the counter medicines it must have been going on for awhile and since she is only 7 a doctor should be consulted. Most of the over the counter stuff you mentioned should not be given to a a 7-year-old without consulting a doctor...If she is coughing so bad...What are you doing on the computer? Taker her to the doctor!!!!

It's important that you give your daughter medicine intended for children or, if listed on the box, the recommended child-sized portion. Look for medication that specifically mentions a cough expectorant (helps to loosen phlegm and mucous). Also encourage her to drink plenty of water to flush out her system and try to not swallow anything she coughs up. If your daughter's coughing is deep in her chest it could be due to sinus drainage, a respiratory infection or virus. If her coughing continues for more than a week it would be a good idea to bring her to the doctor.

Call her doctor or take her to a walk-in clinic. It could be something as simple as a pulled muscle from coughing (which hurts terribly) or it could be pneumonia. Don't take any chances with a hard cough and chest pains.
