No they cannot be cured only controlled. It is an hereditary disease it can be brought on by stress, an allergy to dust mites or pollens or some other protein.
It was once thought that swimming could cure asthma because it help expand the lungs and increased their capacity. That theory has now fallen by the wayside, although the effects of asthma are reduced by an increased lung capacity.
Asthma physiology is not related to difficulty in getting air into the lung , its getting air out of the lung. So in effect it is diminished oxygen exchange.
. One does not grow out of it like some articles indicate, but one can build up a resistance to the sensitivities that give rise to the frequency and severity of the attacks.
Salbutamol has been a wonder drug for the sufferers of Asthma and has helped many people lead a relatively normal life free from the ravages of this unpleasant affliction.

No it can not be cured, it can be controlled. You can also have long spells where you might think it has gone away as you age. It will start to cause problems again at some point. Asthma changes as you cange and grow and change your life style, but it has yet to be cured. I would be the first in line if there was a cure.

There are several things that can reduce asthmatic symptoms e.g. ensuring that your home is free from substances that could potentially make the asthma worse e.g. pet hairs and dander, fungal spores; everything needs to be very clean but use as few chemical as possible. [Kim & Aggie on telly have some good ideas using natural cleaning agents such as lemon juice.]
Asthma also tends to get much worse if the sufferer is stressed. Finding ways of getting into a state of total relaxation, even using meditation, could be really helpful. Find someone to teach the sufferer how to achieve complete relaxation - it's a useful skill in many situations as it assists all aspects of breathing as well as helping other parts of the body and processes.
Some people find that playing a woodwind musical instrument really helps, or singing, as this helps to control the breathing and to increase lung capacity.

My brother is an asthmatic and after ten years his asthma has shown no sign of improving. He has been to several doctors but they didn't help much.
If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

Can't be cured, depending on type of asthma, symptoms can be relieved or people can literally 'grow out of it'.
My son suffers from seasonal asthma - moisture in the air, damp conditions etc etc. Every year the effects are dramatically reduced as he grows older. By the age of 12 - 13 (so the doc says) he will have outgrown it and will not need any medication!

It depends on whether it is intrinsic or extrinsic. Extrinsic means it is caused from from something outside the body, such as pollen ,moulds, house dust mites etc. This can be diagnosed by an allergy clinic and specific treatment recommended. If it is intrinsic then the cause is unlikely to be determined but the asthma can be controlled by various drugs. Speak to your GP and ask for a referral to a chest physician or an allergist

Without a doubt it can be cured and there are clinical studies to back it up. Let's not get into the politics of why the whole world doesn't know this because thats a whole other topic. Checkout these sites. www.watercure2.org and www.vitamincfoundation.org
