I suffered a massive PE in 2004 at the age of 22. Three months later, I suffered a second one. No, unfortunately there is no cure. Prevention is what you want to work on. Sometimes, they'll put a green filter in your artery that leads to your lungs to catch a clot. They did not do this with me though.

They put me on high dose Coumadin (10.5mg daily). And I keep a very close eye on my symptoms.

If you have difficulty breathing, ie. shortness of breath, pain while breathing, feeling like you're breathing in stale air, feeling of suffocation, squeezing in the lungs, blue fingernails, increasing fatigue, please, DO NOT IGNORE IT.

I have no shame about going to the doctor or the ER if I suspect something is up. My life is worth it, and so is yours! Keep a journal of your symptoms, and talk to your doctor. I have open communication with mine, and it has done me so much good.

Good luck to you, and hang in there. I know how terrifying it is. God Bless.
