My dashound seems to hyperventilate when she is excited? What should I do to make her more comfortable?

I have a dashound and he does the same thing once in a while
is there any cigarette smoking in the house, I hope not but if
there is you have to stop because when I smoked it made my
dog hyperventilate, be sure you have taken your precious dog
to the vet. Other than that dashound's are noted to become very
excited, and maybe.......that is why she hyperventilate's when
excited.

I would suggest taking her to a vet to rule out possible serious conditions.
