my wife often has problems with swelling of the knuckles in her right hand, it seems to occur without warning and is very painful...doctors have taken blood tests without any diagnosis readily available.

I'm only 19 years old. The numbness has been affecting me for the past 6-8 months or so. There has only been pain on one occasion. There was an intense throbbing pain right where my left arm bends that lasted for several minutes. The left side of my body is always very unresponsive (my face/neck/head, however, are not affected).. My arm and hand in particular. For instance, if I quickly open and close both hands multiple times as fast as I can, the left one takes longer and my fingers sometimes move in undesired directions or twitch. My leg also frequently goes numb.I am aware that this is a symptom of stroke/heart disease, but I was wondering if anything else could be the cause, or whom I should see about the problem.

K, so this is that weird desease where you pull out your hair. gross, i know, but i think i have it... ewww. I do this often without even realizing it. its not usually not that much, but it has been occuring more and more regularly, also sometimes i start to pick at my eye brows and eyelashes. I read this article that said that people with the disorder may also pick at skin and bite there nails. I've been biting my nails all my life and i pick at the skin around them. So my question is this; I dont want this thing to get any worse, so should i go to a doctor or a counsoler or what? I dont think its that seriouse of a thing but if it could realy become an issue i would like to get rid of the problem now, rather than later. Thanks for any opinions!

I'm a 23 year old male. I've gone to my primary physician over 5 times in the past 6 months about this problem, but I am ignored and told it's "stress" every time...it's not. The problem:

I get random, pulsating spasms on my temples...it's always one side or the other, NEVER both. It's right above my ear, where I can feel the temporal artery. The spasms do not keep time with my pulse...the timing is random, but once it starts, it usually lasts a few hours...pulsating at least once a minute, sometimes 20 times in a minute, sometimes once. If you put your hand over my temple, it feels like if my temple was pregnant...it's an outward kicking sensation on your hand.

When I'm sleeping and it starts, you can actually hear it hitting the pillow, which pretty much means I can't sleep on that side.

It rarely comes with any pain, and a CT scan said I have nothing, but I know something is wrong, it can't be normal to have this on a daily basis for a whole year.

I am not bulemic nor anorexic. My weight is with in normal range.
After eating a meal (not over eating) I feel really ill and tired - even if eaten slowly.
It affects me the next day as well my body tingles, and I have a headache and feel nauseous.
Sometimes I feel really thirsty but drinking anything even water doesnt seem to quench my thirst.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks

An anurism deep in the brain that was not known about until it burst. Doctors said that even if they had cought it beforehand, it was too far in the brain to fix. I would like to know if they would still be able to know what was going on around them right after it happened. And/or if they would still be able to function right after it burst.

For around two years I've had several symptoms, and have rarely felt well.
My symptoms include:
-dizziness
-tingling/pins and needles/very cold sensation starting at back of head then through scalp, arms, shoulders and sometimes entire body (this is very uncomfortable, sometimes unbearable)
-joint pain and the feeling of very dry bones
-spells of confusion
-bad headaches (sometimes sensitive to light/sound, and sometimes temporary [1-3 seconds] sight loss)
- often times I get a "falling" sensation when I stand up or walk
- spells of insomnia
- spells of sudden fatigue and weakness
-memory problems
-psychological problems including mood swings and depression
-problems thinking/concentrating/absorbing information
-being constantly cold
- spells of irregular heart beat
- spells of chest tightness/pressure, sensation of heaviness on chest
- shortness of breath/trouble breathing (like a panic attack)

I will be going to the doctor but I just want to see if this sounds familiar.

When you catch a cold/virus once you'll never get it again because your body had built up immunity to it? I heard that somewhere and wanted to know if it true or not. Thank you everybody. I've got a killer cold by the way....it sucks!!

my lower abdomen (just below navel) hurts, especially if i sit for a long time and my belly, since it's big, rests on that part. it also hurts when i put pressure on that area. and most of all, i fart a lot -- almost every 10 minutes. there is nothing unusual in my bowel movement.

i tried taking the GasAid medicine but it doesn't work. the area just below my navel still hurts and i still fart very often.

what is wrong? i had an operation for appendicitis two months ago, but this is not related to that... isn't it?
