You would look pale and be feeling tired all the time - you'd have less energy than normal. Also if you look at your finger nails the nail bed under them will look white & if you press the nail the nail bed will either not go pink again as fast as normal or will stay white.
If you suspect you have anemia you should see your doctor & be guided by him/her. You will have a blood test & depending on the results your doctor will give you the appropriate treatment.

Paleness, lack of energy, and a general feeling of being worn out all the time.
The kind of anemia that results from low iron, (I assume this is the kind you mean, since it's the most common, and generally the only one most people know about) causes your body to be unable to make enough hemoglobin. That's the substance in your red blood cells that carries oxygen. So you may see a blue tint to your fingernails as well from the lack of oxygen.
Luckily, treatment is the easiest thing in the world. Just pop an iron supplement once a day. :)

If you are referring to Iron deficiency anemia, usually it develops slowly and therefore many patients are asymptomatic at first. By the time they develop symptoms, anemia is usually severe. These signs and symptoms include: generalized weakness and fatigue, light-headedness and inability to concentrate, palpitations, difficulty of breathing on exertion, pale especially of the conjunctiva, increase heart rate which is more than 100 beats/minute,dry,brittle,ridged nails with frequenly concave contours and cracking at the edges of the lips..Complete blood count also shows a low hemoglobin and hematocrit levels..

Usually you are really weak and really pale, and tired all the time. If you dont eat that much food with Iron I would just go get tested for it. All they do is prick your finger and squeeze it for a drop of blood. Then they tell you within a few minutes if you are or not.
