I'm 30 years old and facing possible hip replacement due to a malformed right hip joint at birth. I had hip reconstruction as a toddler and after that was quite mobile but with a bit of an unusual gait. I was very active in highschool and college and enjoyed running and kickboxing. About three years ago I began to feel some symptoms of arthritis which seems to be a somewhat strange disease because some days my pain is a level 8 or 9 and other days I feel fine. My activities are much more limited now because of that. I have seen a couple of orthopedists the past three years and both are well thought of in their field and both say that I am definitely facing replacement. People say that someone my age should put it off as long as possible and part of me feels that too but at the same time if the surgery will improve my gait and get rid of the pain then I want to have the courage to do it. I'm conflicted and scared about all that's involved in this major surgery!

At the time of first and second surgeries, the doctors have confirmed to us the complete removal of the adenoids. It was a shock for us to know yesterday that he has a big one residing behind his nose again, which will force us to go for a third surgery.

I will appreciate if you have a good explanation or other alternatives to treat him, please advise ...

I got my tragus pierced around 5 months ago and it doesn't hurt and it's not red or anything but there's a little bump on the outside of the piercing. There used to be one on the back too but it went away. It's not discharging anything but I'm not sure if this is an infection or if it will go away as I continue cleaning it with sea salt and saline solution. Anyone know?

Prob: A patient is admitted in the ER w/ the ff. symptoms: cold, clammy extremities & muscular weakness. Upon further examination of the nurse, she found out that the patient has lowered blood pressure, weak rapid pulse & skin discoloration. Urine analysis showed the urine density was 1.009g/ml & significant lowering in the plasma sodium level in the blood.

Questions:

Can the symptoms be associated with plasma sodium level? why?

What is your diagnosis of the patient's illness?

What would be the nursing implications that must be done?

What must be the short and long term goal?

What is the suggested treatment?

What are other diseases associated with this illness?

Please help me..

Thanks!!!!

I've been on Prednisone for 4 months, started with 40mg per day and now i cut down to 5 mg per day, due to rare auto-immune disease.
I just started smoking since few days ago, since my boyfriend didn't take my sickness anymore so he left me.
I have no idea what's going to happen to my body if I keep smoking and drinking with taking prednisone.. i still have 2 more months to go with Prednisone.

My right big toenail is all yellow and long and jagged and gives off a foul stinky odor. Whenever I walk, a black secretion comes out the crack on the side where it meets the flesh. Is this normal or should I seek medical help?

My son has what feels like normal breast tissue (or lumpiness), developing under 1 nipple only. Is it normal for boys to develop lumpiness, on one side? I am not talking about developing full breasts (as in gynocomastia), just lumpiness.

My fiancee is VERY sick. For the past 3 days he's been throwing up blood. When we brought him to the doctors, we found out that he has cirrhosis of the liver. He may need a TRANSPLANT if it gets any worse. At this point I'm DEVISTATED. We're waiting for results from the doctor, and he's so sick, I just don't know what to do... I'm a full time manager of a large portion of a company, I am 7 months pregnant and I am having issues with this myself. He doesn't work, he's a stay at home, but I just don't know what to do about my job... I'm so stressed out that I'm starting to lose my hair. My fiancee's health is so bad, that when I talk about it I cry.. and I rarely ever cry... I'm just so TIRED. And for any questions, no he doesn't have hepetitis and rarely drinks but a glass of wine on occasion, so that's not why he has the cirrhosis. It's genetic. His father had it. I'm so stressed out that I've been having panic attacks, how do I handle this?? I'm just not used to so much happening...

I have had seizures for about three a nd a half years but today I simply blacked out. It took a full minute to regain conciousness and don't recall the episode. I am nervious because I do not normally pass out but colapse, remaining awake. And when I do loose consiousness it is only for a few seconds. My lastt EEG was three weeks ago and MRI 1.5 year. I shook about ten minutes after regaining consiousness and was wondering if this in a type of aura of something?

Daughter now just turned 3, diagnosed at age 2. Seems like her play skills have improved quite a bit in last year. She is starting to talk in 1 or 2 word bits. Don't see much stimming at all. Initially we had some hand flapping at times. Seems to be gone now. We have been following the DAN protocol, she has been undergoing DMSA chelation for the last 6 months. She now plays appropriately with toys. Still have communication issues, though. My wife seems to believe the autism diagnosis was valid and what we have been doing proactively has been working. However, I just wonder if she was severely delayed and not autistic to begin with. I guess I am just hoping maybe they got it wrong last year based on the improvements I have seen in her this year.
