My friend and me are debating, since we cant find the answer. If someone donates blood and afterwards when they take it back to the lab it is tested for HIV and West Nile. Will the Red Cross notify you that you are infected and wont let you donate again? Or will they not tell you and just trash the blood??

I just had a cataract surgery a week ago. One eye at a time. Next surgery will be my left eye. My friend told me that I'm still to young to have cataract. I don't consider young myself when I hit 50 years old.
I don't know if staring to long on the computer screen can cause cataract.

We have washed hands excessively and cleaned meticulously, only to have a helper here for two hours and now she's got it.
Is this airborne? My kids all have strangely mettalic smelling breath and it is freaking me out. Any different ideas than keep the fluids in? I am starting to worry anout toxins in my home.

I'm curious. When a person who is terminally ill tells you that it has been suggested that they enter hospice, how long do they have left? Is there a standard amount of time left when someone should enter hospice?
I have a friend who is ill and she wont really say how long she has left. I want to be prepared when the time comes.
Thanks in advance!
Peace

Hi...lately, for the past month or so, there have been days ( not everyday) in which all of a sudden I get nausea, sometimes dealable and sometimes a bit of a nuisance...Its never strong enough for me to have to vomit though, and I actually have never thrown up.....but there are times, especially at night when Im about to go to bed where all of a sudden I feel a bit nauseated...Eventually i breathe it out and fall asleep and thats the end of it....Also, I have been recently for the past few months developed disease phobias, like hypochondria..about diseases and all...and it seems thst sometimes the nausea triggers when I worry, and feel low, but sometimes it just comes like that.... I also have experienced a panic attack in the last few months....Eh, other than that I dont feel any other alarming symptoms, but this whole nauseated feeling is kind of scaring me...What can this be...Im having a problem with my health insurance and doctor, and for now cant get an opinion till I settle it.

My grandmother has alsheimer's disease and has lost the majority of her capabilities to do everyday tasks. She has a hard time communicating and even then she forgets words and names of things. We were told that she is now in kidney failure and her stomach is very swollen. They're trying to keep her comfortable, but I don't know if she's in pain or if it will get better of if this is it. Doctors are nowhere to be found and nurses won't give our family any information. Can anyone help?

Everytime I attend my classes, my stomach makes funny sounds although I am not hungry or I am passing off gas. It is just that while the food is digesting, the process creates lots of undesirable sounds which is loud enough that people will stare at me in disbelief. It is so embarassing that it is directly affecting my self confidence. I have no problems with constipation as I have my number two daily. Not to sound awkward or anything, but how do so many of you do your number two without making so much noise? Please enlighten me. I am only in my teenage years. I have a whole lot of people whom I am gonna meet and I do not want any more embarassing situations in the future. Thanks.

I am spending time with a friend who is has a high risk for a heart attack. And sometimes we go hiking and are remote from medical help. I may just be too paranoid but I guess I'm also being prudent. I need to know exactly what procedures I need to take if medical help is not going to be available for at least an hour or 2. I know about administering asprin but:

Am I supposed to give CPR immediately? Or only after the heart stops? Or chest compressions?

Please feel free to use technical words

I have been on my insulin pump now for about 2-3 weeks. I change the site every 2.5 days, and switch sides. I switched it from the left hip to the right hip today and the area on the left side that it was at now itches. I was just wondering if it's infected or not?
