I have been on my insulin pump now for about 2-3 weeks. I change the site every 2.5 days, and switch sides. I switched it from the left hip to the right hip today and the area on the left side that it was at now itches. I was just wondering if it's infected or not?

I've been on the pump for about two months and I get the same thing I think it is mostly just a reaction to the adhesives and potentially even dry skin. Just like anytime you put on a band-aid and then remove it I think it is your skin starting to be able to breathe again.

Good luck on the pump so far I like it but it takes a little getting used to.

If you have reddness or swelling, or any discharge; if you have a low-grade fever or tenderness and heat at the site, you might have some inflammation going on before an actual infection. You can take a couple of aspirin for anti inflammatory/pain..with food...and then call your doc. Something is causing the itching; you might have some other diabetic related skin condition going on. Please call. Godloveya.
