Lupus is an autoimmune disease that generally affects women and in almost every case diagnosed has been accompinied by arthritus. People with lupus are generally more prone to illness because their immune system is too busy attacking it's own organs. It sees those organs as an outsider and a threat to the body. There is no known cure for the disease though there are a few extreme studies going on right now.

Some cases of Lupus (named so because a version of lupus creates a wolf like mask) do affect facial features as well. In a lot of cases lupus will go into remission so when you actually see someone with lupus you won't think they are sick. People with lupus generally suffer from depression as well because there is nothing they can do to prevent the disease progression.

In it's last stages lupus will begin attacking the vital organs of the body such as the heart, lung, liver, and kidneys.

My mother has suffered from lupus for nearly 18 years now. When she was first diagnosed they gave her 7 years to live. She's been fighting and going through a lot of treatments, had surgeries and come very close to the end on several occasions. But she's still here...she has many worse days than she does good days now as her lungs do not function but at about a 40 percent capacity.

It is a very serious autoimune disorder affecting connective tissues such as joints and tendons.

You can type "lupus" into your web browser.

I do not believe there is any known "cure" for this, and not everone experiences the same symptoms.

I do know someone who has lupus. Her body shut down. She ended up losing 3 of her 5 senses (taste, smell, and touch. She became numb from head to toe and coudn't walk unassisted. She chewed the inside of her mouth when she ate and didn't know it. She wasn't expected to live past 6 months) and was so groggy she was only awake for about 4 hours of the day as it progressed.

She did, however, find a way to get better. She now has more energy than I do, and she is much older than I am. It took a lot of time. But she did it.

I'm not getting money from this, so I suppose I can tell you what she did.

She started eating sunrider products. from www.sunrider.com

She mostly had the nu plus and the fortune delight, but now she does two other products as her main ones. Quinary, and sunnectar or sunnydew and now has the vita shake instead of the nu plus. They nourish and cleanse the body so that it can heal and repair itself. There are a LOT of other produts on there, but you have to always have those four as the main, no matter what else you try on there. (Calli tea can be in replacement of the Fortune Delight but make sure to use A LOT more water than it says to for each teabag)

If nothing else, just be sure that whoever has this, if it is you or somoene you know, it is so important to eat well. Lots of whole foods and organic if possible.

Nourish the body. It can heal itself.

I don't think it has been discovered what causes it, but it may have to do with poor nutrition. It is likely it depends upon the individual.

(An aside note, I believe she had multiple issues goin on. I don't think that the average person suffers as much as she did with it. It is a very serious condition, though. That is for certain.)
