I am considered obese 243lbs and 5'7" and my blood pressure is normally high, sometimes higher than that, but the last couple of days I've been really tired and I just check my blood pressure twice once at 98/63 and then at 100/60 my pulse is 57 ?

I wish to learn about heart sounds. I am aware of 4. S-1, 2,3, and 4. Now, correct me if I'm wrong but S-1 and S-2 are the Atrio-ventricular valves and semi-lunar valves opening and closing. If you could specify which is which on this too, that would be gnarly. And, of course, what are S-3 and S-4? Or if you so wish, you could just give me a complete run down of the sounds in your own way. The only reason I am asking this on-line instead of looking in my textbooks is: I have searched relentlessly for it and can't find it. So it would be much appreciated, thank you.

I guess it also checks how strong your heart is. Does it test anything else?

my dad is 56 years old and he is a sort of a diabetic. it runs in our family. and his triglyceride level is 356. but he does not have high cholesterol. he just has high carbohydrate levels. the doctor gave him TriCor 145 to take. he also gave him a heart monitor because his heart isnt working properly. we bought him a treadmill for christmas so that will help him with excercizing. he still needs to eat healthy. what should he eat, and so his diet doesnt change dramatically? he is used to eating a lot of bread, rice, and pasta and meat. and how much should he excercize? he weighs about 200 pounds and has a beer belly, from drinking a lot in his younger days. he probably only drinks a beer or two every two weeks. he also used to smoke for about 20 years but he quit about 10 years ago. i am scared that he might have a heart attack or stroke. please help and only serious answers because this is a serious matter. and if there are any doctors out there.... please help!!!

A friend's son 3.5 years old - has been diagnosed with a rare heart disease. He will need to have an open heart surgery fairly soon, most likely within the next 2 weeks. Since this type of operation cannot be performed in Serbia, where he lives, we are looking for a hospital in Europe or USA where this can be done.
I would like to ask you if you know by any chance what would be the best children's hospital for this kind of surgery, or if you know anyone who has a child and had a similar procedure done. We are recommended some hospital in London, but I'm looking for alternatives in the rest of Europe (Germany, France, ...) and in the USA.

A 52 year old man has chest pain over two weeks. He is diagnosed with angina. The prescription is aspirin 75mg, one tablet in the morning. Atenolol 100mg, one tablet in the morning. GTN spray, one dose for chest pain. Can any pharmacist comment on this? Is there any useful websites? Thanks.

During my recent physical, my triglycerides came back at 1480, dangerously high. However, the people at this office did NOT tell me to fast before the test. The night before, my wife and I celebrated her birthday by basically pigging out on fatty foods (steak for dinner; cake for dessert; 2 glasses of wine each). I also had a glass of OJ that morning before the test, as well as a couple bites of the birthday cake (a crappy breakfast, I know).

My blood sugar was elevated as well, which I'm pretty sure was due to the sugary stuff I had with no fast. Would that admittedly crappy diet have an effect on my triglyceride levels?

I'm thinking about switching doctors because I didn't even know my triglycerides were that high until I requested my medical records. He didn't tell me about the results of the triglycerides, only the blood sugar level. His response, coupled with the ineffectiveness of the office in not telling me to fast, has not inspired me with confidence. Time to switch?

I went to the doctor and he said it might be because of the position i do when i watch tv or when i sleep

but i'm still not sure.

they got my bp it's 110/80.. they say it's normal.

the chest pain i told before wasn't really pain, it was just a little bit discomfort like someone was touching my chest with very very very little force. as in no force. can i just ask how does it feel for a normal chest pain in a heart attack? is it like their is a train in your chest? coz that isn't what i felt..

thanks..

and how long can these symptoms last??

I know that "normal" is 120/80 but what if the systolic pressure is normal at 120 but the diastolic pressure is a low 50? Should one be concerned with this or leave it alone?

My father within the last few weeks has had flu-like symptoms (even took two days off work..which he NEVER does) and has had shooting pain through his right shoulder down his arm. I was wondering if this could be a precursor to a heart attack. He has been to 2 different doctors within the past few weeks and his surgeon is 'almost' sure its not heart-related but it the same breath ordered a stress test???

I have been laying around for a few weeks and had the flu/virus and not used to laying around that much .I am used to a farily normal pulse of around 72 during the day and 65 at night. Most of the time it doesnt got to much over 110 when Im up and active.I have seen two specialist lately for ear problems and through check up.One is a vascular specialist .Both say there are no problems with my heart or lungs or blood pressure. But recently since I have started getting up doing things that require a little exercise my heart rate goes up a ittle higher than it usually does but I have been laying around alot lately .Does this sound normal that I have gotten used to having a slow or normal pulse and that the little exercise is stimulating my heart to beat a little faster because Im not used to it?and Im getting over laying around?its given me a little anxiety because of it but I asked my doctor and they said its normal. Its jut working harder because its not used to being that active but still
