I guess it also checks how strong your heart is. Does it test anything else?

No, it measures the frequency and strength of your heart muscle.

The EKG gives a view of the electrical conduction of your heart from 12 different angles. Does not reveal the 'strength' of your heart muscle. The strength of the heart can be seen through an echocardiogram revealing the Ejection Fraction. (it's like an ultrasound of the heart)
The EKG can show if blockage in your arteries are causing ischemia (oxygen deprivation) or a myocardial infarction (heart attatck). EKG can also reveal any old heart attack by displaying a 'bundle branch block'.
A Cardiac Catheterization would be the test to visualize the flow of the coronary arteries through injecting a dye. Intervention can be done with this test using PCI (percutaneous intervention).

EKG just check your heart beat/ min and whether you have normal/abnormal heart beat.
You go for Echocardiography to check the heart muscles and the valves. You go for treadmill stress test (75% accuracy) or coronary angiogram/catheter (95% accuracy) to check if you have any blockages in the arteries
