Ive just been diagnosed with Diabetes, i've got to go to drs about medication and stuff, but that's not until week after next. What are the dietary factors having diabetes? Which foods to avoid and which are best to eat? Sorry if I'm rambling, I'm just scared stiff until I go speak to the dr.

If the diabetes test is normal, should I ask for a glucose tolerance test too or should I be satisfied that I don't have diabetes and pursue other causes for my tingling/numbness?

Lately, when I know I need to eat, instead of just experiencing the normal hunger feeling, I experience a "sick" feeling, too. I get shakey, headachey, light-headed, and feel as if I could vomit.

It seems that eating usually cures this sick hungry feeling right away.

I'm healthy, eat well, work out regularly, take a daily multivitamin, and have no serious medical conditions (that know of).

My instinct says low blood sugar. Any other suggestions? Have any of you experienced this? Should I go to my GP right away for blood work/tests?

For the past few days, I feel this way before nearly every meal time. As if I'm starved to the point of being sick.

Thanks, ladies!

Does this mean he will most likely develop diabeties as he ages into his 50s and 60s? What if he lost some weight and kept it off with regular diet and exercise, would that prevent him from ever developing diabeties, or is he doomed genetically to succomb to this sooner or later no matter what he does to prevent it. This is of course, if indeed being glucose intolerant translates to meaning that it is the first step to becoming diabetic. Right now, I don't even know what being glucose intolerant means, so if someone could please clarify. Thanks!

My mom has a ulcer on her heel. She is diabetic, 65 yrs old & has peripheral neuropathy too. Need some info on successful debridement of the ulcer. It is infected and has some black areas and white areas.
And please don't tell me to see the doc. Already went to E.R. and they prescibed oral antibiotics and told us to clean and treat her ulcer.
But didn't give us any helpful info.....I know "big help" they are.
I would appreciate any helpful info u can give me or if u know of a good website that u can direct me too.
Thank you

My husband has type 2 diabetic and I was wondering what types of restaurants can he go to and he can eat without raising his sugar level up and the rest of the family will not feel guilty because can can't have that type of food. I already told him since he can't eat pizza than I won't. He gets mad at me when I tell him that he says he can eat salad but I feel guilty If I eat pizza in front of him

My friend has symptoms of Diabetes. She won't go to the doctor cause she's afraid of what they may tell her. She has increased urination and thirst. Her stomach hurts especially when she lays on it. Her hunger has increased also. Even her vision is messing up. I tried to get her to go the doctor. She won't listen to me. I don't know what to do anymore. I don't want anything to happen to her.

I _need_ to have diabetes because my doctor won't let me have Byetta just for weight loss. Now I know everyone who answers this is going to say, stupid fat person should just eat right and exercise. But it doesn't matter how perfectly I eat, or how much I exercise. I've already tried more diets than you can imagine. No, really. I've tried that one too. Yup, and that one, so don't bother telling me how I just haven't done enough of your version of eating right and exercizing. I just need to know how much longer I have to keep shovelling sugary crap into my gullet before they will let me have the Byetta.

My 4 year old son has been behaving differently for almost a week now. It's mostly behavoral and eating changes. He's usually an extrememly well behaved child, just a wonderful boy that never needs correcting. This past week he has not been able to contol himself. He will have several fits in a day, he's grouchy, angry... This is all unusual. I also noticed he's hungry all the time now. He's skinny for his age and it's usually a real stuggle to get him to eat anything. Now this past week he's saying he's hungry non-stop. He'll eat all his breakfast, 3 to 4 times more than he usually would have and then still say he's hungry 30 minutes later. He's also saying he's tired 'all' the time. He has been like that for as long as I can remember... sometimes fatigue others hyper. I'm very concerned this may be a medical issue after his behavior tonight. He was going from fit to fit and was 'crying' about food even though he had a huge dinner and snack. Does this sound like diabetes?
