You'll never get enough iron without supplements if your ferritin is low. Try a product called Floradix.
It's an herbal, vegetarian iron mix in a liquid formula that's very well tolerated.
PS Spinach hinders the absorption of iron, so don't bother eating it. Some foods contain iron inhibitors, which decrease iron absorption. Oxalates in spinach and phytates in whole grains inhibit the absorption of iron from these foods. Other examples of common foods that contain inhibitors are: tea, coffee, bran, and legumes (soybeans, split peas, dried beans, and lentils). A high fibre intake in general may act as an iron inhibitor. To help your body absorb more iron, eat foods that contain heme iron and/or vitamin C when you eat foods that act as iron inhibitors.

Dark green leafy veggies are high in iron. Red wine is also given as an iron builder. ( in moderation of course) Legumes such as lentils, beans etc. are a meat supplement and are also high in iron. Try maker a 5 bean salad or add them to soups. If you are at the point of needing meds for your blood count, I would not fool around. You are playing with fire.

Either speak with a nutritionist or go to the local hospital, I did for something simple and they'll help you with a diet so you get all the right dietary needs to keep you healthy. Then all you have to do is get the right stuff from your local health store.
