I also have both type 1 and 2 diabetes and have since I was diagnosed when I was 13. I just stay on a strict diet of absolutely no sugar drinks, and limit myself on sweets. I also take insulin injections AND the glucophage pill that doctors mostly perscribe to patients with type 2 diabetes

My brother and his wife both have 2 and she went to 1 last year so not sure if they consider her having 1 and 2 or not but as far as I know, she no longer takes the pills like she did and is on insulin now. Weight loss can help get you off both, as my brother and a friend back home did.

One thing my brother did was go on a very strict diet, monitored weekly by his doctor, and has been losing alot of weight. He's also been doing some moderate exercising which has helped him some.

He had a heart attack when he was 48 but never really corrected his diet and was diagnosed with diabetes in his mid 50s and continued to gain weight which kept adding to his problems. He has lost around 80 lbs since Nov 2006 and is no longer taking medicine for diabetes.

My friend, who was on insulin for years but also had asthma, had gastric bypass, something I don't recommend except for severe problems. She no longer uses her inhaler and she no longer is on insulin but she has had tremendous problem since the surgery with infections and other health issues. She got rid of two problems and gained a bunch of others.

Best thing to do is have your doctor recommend a nutritionist and let them work with you like my friend did or talk with your doctor about going to Weight Watchers where you will be with others who can help encourage you as you eat healthier and the workers there can help guide you with the proper foods.

My brother did the Optifast Diet (liquid diet) but you have to go to the doctor every week and it can be quite expensive. What is odd is, he had to have double bypass earlier this year and the doctor wanted him to take in 2300 calories a day (to heal properly) instead of the 800 he was on before ~ and he is still losing weight even though he is taking in more calories !! The right foods make the difference ~ see a nutritionist and see how it works for you.

Good luck.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.

I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Yes indeed you can have a resistance to insulin that is injected. I could not take the Novolin but Humalin and Humalog are fine for me. It's pretty much the same so I don;t know why, but I know I was in panic mode when Novolin stopped working for me after many years.

I can;t really help on the recipe thing as I have been diabetic since I was 2, but I did want to confirm that yes you can be type 1 with type 2 resistance as it happened to me too. Thankfully once settled on the Humalin all was fine for me.

This is extremely odd....Never heard of someone having BOTH Type 1 and 2 diabetes. You are hopefully under the care of an Endocrinologist and taking insulin shots + oral medication (By the way, AVOID AVANDIA...an oral diabetes med from Glaxo Smith Kline, that has recently been reported to increase heart attack risk!).

I would suggest consulting a diabetes educator, who would work with the Endocrinologist.

You just have Diabetes period. Most patients who start out on only pills eventually end up on Insulin anyway...the body is always changing and so is your ability to produce Insulin. One of the most effective way's to be in good control is to maintain some daily form of exercise. This allows more insulin receptors to bind to your red blood cells and allows your body to recognize insulin better...the effect is better blood sugar control. There is much more than this however so I encourage you to see your family doctor or nurse for more information.

I think in your condition a doctor would be the more suitable person to ask. Someone may easily give you the wrong answer and could turn your situation into a life threatening even. That is why I don't usually ask medical questions here. I call my doctor. That way I know for sure I'm getting a professional answer.
